This will only allow you to mirror your monitor (just a copy of the same image). If that is what you want to do, here's a tip: I am using a pc running windows xp and I wanted to mirror the image to a tv. Using this product I have to have only the monitor plugged into this device when I start up my computer. Once the computer starts up, then I can plug the tv into the other plug on this device. Otherwise when the computer is starting up and trying to sense the monitor, it will sense both the monitor and the tv and get confused and then nothing will show up on either device. To my knowledge, no you cannot. There is no way to toggle it between the two. It is designed for the dvi to be split outward, not inward.

Does this work in reverse? Can I connect 2 DVI sources to a single DVI monitor?

Tried that, won't work. SITUATION: 2 separate DVI-D monitors, 2 separate computers with dual DVI-D outputs. Bought two splitters (StarTech), attached male end to each monitor (Asus 23.5 1920x1080 res.) Hooked up DVI-D cables to each splitter so that I could turn on one computer at a time and use both monitors WITHOUT HAVING TO MANUALLY SWITCH DVI-D CABLES EVERY TIME. RESULT: Bleed thru from one computer that was NOT powered up caused one or both monitors to switch on/off, the computer that was off even had the video card illuminated with partial power, (NOT a good thing as it may damage cards)!!!!BTW: I took apart one StarTech splitter in hopes of disabling/cutting one of the female connectors...WOW it is well made, perfectly shielded and manufactured!! So this splitter will ONLY mirror the output for two separate monitors for one source, like having a large TV Mirroring whats on your computer monitor. Cheers, MickeyMedic.

I'm giving this product 5 stars because at the end of the day, it mostly does what I need it to. I'm not going to take away any stars because I didn't understand the listing exactly. I purchased this in the hopes of splitting a video signal and having it go to 2 monitors and a TV simultaneously. The video card we have has an HDMI and Displayport output. Currently one monitor is on the DVI and one is on Displayport, so I figured we could split the DVI. When I first hooked it up, neither the monitor or TV showed up at all and I assumed it was broken. I disconnected the HDMI part and the DVI showed up, which is fine, and likewise when I disconnect the DVI, the HDMI shows up. I don't find this to be a big issue because we have 3 displays total, so all this means is all 3 can't broadcast at once, but I can at least display one monitor and the TV or both monitors at the same time. I'm assuming the issue is due to the TV and monitors having totally different resolutions and the product not being able to do both. I believe if I was broadcasting to the same resolution it would be fine, but this works for us

Mein PC hat nur einen DVI-I Ausgang (25+4 Pin) und ich wollte meinen Desktop erweitern, d.h. ich wollte zwei Monitore mit unterschiedlichem Displayinhalt! >>> Hab hier sicherlich ins Schwarz getroffen! :-) 2 Monitore laufen parallel, einer über DVI-D (digital) und der andere über VGA (analog). Super Produkt, sehr empfehlenswert!

So etwas habe ich bei Amazon noch nie erlebt: Die Lieferung erfolgte mit sehr großer Verspätung. Eine Stornierung war nicht möglich. Das Produkt funktionierte nicht wie erwartet und beschrieben. Daher erfolgte eine Rücksendung. Auf die Erstattung warte ich noch heute. Also: Hände weg von Verkäufer und Produkt. PS: Nach einer Beschwerde an Amazon habe ich jetzt endlich auch die Erstattung bekommen. An der Bewertung ändert das für mich nichts...
