Q: How much dog weight will it take

I am not sure on the weight but I would not use for dogs over 20 lbs. the steps are very narrow. My dog used to go up to the bed but is not thrilled out it. She will not use to get off the bed. She weighs about 40 lbs and is a lab/beagle mix

Q: will the 5 step wide handle a 40-50lb dog?

I think they would, but check with the manufacturer. My pug is almost 25 pounds. The steps are 15 inches wide and almost 6 inches deep. They are very stable. We love ours!
