OVER 40 YEARS OF HITS....WHO HAS TOPPED AND/OR BROKE THAT RECORD??? NO ONE!!!
This collection focuses on her years at Arista records (She was with them for almost 25 years) this covered the years 1980 to 1994! Having 4 (Four) Billboard #1 Hit Singles: "Freeway Of Love", "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" with George Michael, "Jump To It", and "Get It Right", All included here!, And 10 (Ten) Top Ten Hits! 5 (Five) are included on this collection...Not bad for an artist who has been having MAJOR HITS since the 60's!!! This collection picks up after she left Atlantic Records. At Arista she took a slightly different direction in sound (Aretha has no problem with keeping up with today's sound, but not forgetting her natural soul sound throughout). Many of us are waiting for her new release which should hit any day hopefully BEFORE 2009 ends (It's already been recorded, plus another Gospel album that's waiting in the vaults). This is a nice juicy collection that's sure to delight!

First 8 songs are teriffic
While of course nothing here matches up with "Spanish Harlem" or "Respect," Aretha did have a mini-resurrection in the 1980s. The songs up until "A Deeper Love" are all good, but the songs from 9-15 are filler. So as a result, since it has 8 songs I consider to be very good, I give this collection 3 stars. A subpar collection of her Atlantic years would be 4 stars, and anything outside Atlantic would be a max of 3 stars (to me). Because let's face it, when you reach for Aretha, you want to hear her Atlantic recordings like "I Say a Little Prayer."

For those who consider themselves Old School listeners
This is a great purchase. Showcases Ms. franklin's great accomplishments in RandB music. I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys great old school entertainment.

The Queen does it again
So many hits! I love the Queen of Soul and I'm very happy that I brought this. Freeway Of Love is a great 80's hit & a really good song to blast in the car! Same goes for Jump To It & Get It Right. Jimmy Lee has always been a fave of mine & I'm glad that it's on here. Thanks Amazon, love this CD!

BEST OF HER 90s
ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS TRACKS, THE BONUS TRACKS PRODUCED BY BABYFACE ARE EXCEPTIONAL "WILLING TO FORGIVE" & "HONEY". MAKES IT ALL THE MORE WORTH BUYING. THOSE 2 SONGS WERE TAILORED MADE FOR ARETHA TO SING. GOOD PRODUCER BABYFACE

Respect to the Queen of Soul
2017 is the Queen of Soul's retirement year and we have been so lucky to be able to enjoy her many jewels over the past many decades. Most of them are included here, from Respect, Think, Say A Little Prayer, Rock Steady, Freeway of Love, Zoomin', Willing to Forgive, to duets with Whitney, George M and George B. Glaringly missing are the brilliant Luther Vandross-produced hits, Jump to It and Get It Right, which would have been much better than tracks like the dire duet with Elton John and Jumpin Jack Flash - Thelma Houston owns that song. The artwork could have been better, especially as the music covers much more than her earlier years. Also, I think chronological of the songs would have made better sense than the random mode here. There are many great female singers out there, indeed Aretha recently cut a tribute CD to them, but there's only one Queen and that's Aretha herself. Wishing her longevity in retirement, although her music will be played for many centuries to come.

Aretha at her best, the queen of soul.
There are several compilation double CD's covering most of Aretha's more well known songs and I think this is the best. It is available at a low price and has better quality mastering than say on "RESPECT" with a lot less hiss on the older tracks.{see my review of that and please note I did not know of this CD at the time of writing}. There is another similar CD called "Greatest Hits (remastered) Import, ASIN: B00004Y29P" which costs a great deal more and has fewer tracks, of which almost all are in the same running order. Despite having a good ear(2) and stereo I could see no difference in sound quality on the remastered CD, so why pay more for less. Chris B

Just buy it!
I purchased this cd as I already own the album on vinyl and I wanted to listen to it in my car...old fashioned I know...but I know my music and Aretha has a voice that just delivers and touches your soul.
