Bleeds eternally but killer payoff and consistency
Punky Color is an excellent choice for vivids on a serious budget. I use a mixture of Apple Green, Bright Yellow, and Alpine Green to get a bright, warm green color that isn't quite neon but close to it. It's stunning in the sun! Apple is true green that's a bit darker on its own than the swatch pictures but lightens up to a granny smith shade with a few drops of the yellow. Add more and the green just gets brighter and brighter. Alpine is an almost blackened green with a bit of a blue undertone. I like to use it as a root shadow or to correct my Apple and Yellow mix if I get too heavy on the yellow and need to deepening it back up. Great coverage over prelightened hair (I lift to a level 9 for my color) and the gel consistency allows for precise application and makes it harder to overwork the color as you massage it in. It's not drippy and never comes out patchy unless my base is already uneven. The colors fade well and generally on tone. With my usual hair routine I get a lot of life with my green staying very vivid between touch ups. The candy scent is also pleasant though quite strong. The ONLY drawback with this dye is that it will bleed basically the whole time it's in your hair so avoid any white or pastel clothing if you don't want them stained. It's a small price to pay for the dirt cheap price, color range, and longevity of the colors themselves though.

The only dye for me!
Jerome Russell Punky Color, Alpine Green, 3.5 Ounce I have been coloring my hair since I was a teenager, and I have tried almost all the other brands. This was my first time trying the Jerome Russell Punky Color (I used the color Alpine Green) and I have found my holy grail! The good: ~ The product came in a sealed container, no spills or accidents on the way to my door. ~ Smells AMAZING. I think it smells like sweet tarts, or some other candy, but NOT like traditional hair dye. No chemical smell that lasts for days, no burning eyes! ~ Dye is in a gel formulation, not cream, so it's much easier to see where you are applying it, and I feel the color stays more true. ~ PIGMENTED. ~Long lasting. By the time i'm writing this review, it has been over 2 weeks since dying my hair. With other dyes, I would already see some fading. I'm shocked every time I look in the mirror at how deep the color still is. ~ Didn't stain my sink or shower ~ Doesn't rub off on pillows or clothes The not so good: ~ The package is a bit tough to open if you don't have scissors or a knife on you That's it! I couldn't think of any other cons! The Process: ~ I started with blonde hair, so I didn't bleach first, I suspect I would have had EVEN MORE vibrant hair if I would have. ~ I painted the dye on my hair (I was a bit lazy, so excuse the pictures, no fault of the product), it took about 10 min ~ I left the dye on for about an hour. The instructions call for less time, but I really wanted to let it soak in, especially because I did not bleach first ~ I rinsed the dye out, but I didn't use shampoo, I didn't want to strip the new color. This step took, by far, the longest time. I think it would have been faster if I would have used shampoo. ~ I let my hair air dry, and didn't use any products on it for 24 hours. Just personal preference. That's it, pretty easy for a hair dye pro. I love that this product left that wonderful smell in my hair for about 2 days. It wasn't overpowering, just nice and sweet. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend using Jerome Russell Punky Color. Five stars all around.

Highly recommended for unbleached hair
This dye is better than what I was expecting! I plan on using it on my entire head but have thus far only done a strip test on a small portion of my hair. The color is exactly as it appears in the picture when you open the jar. It also smells lovely, like candy, which is a bonus. It was pretty easy to use and has a gel consistency. I painted it on my hair with an old paintbrush and managed not to stain anything. It washed right off my skin after getting a small bit of the dye on my cheek. (granted, that might not work if you wait to long to wash it off.) I didn't want to bleach my hair first, so I didn't. I was quite surprised at how bright the color came out after leaving it on for a little over an hour! It looked almost exactly as it did in the jar on my medium brown virgin hair. It is a really great shade of bluish-green, but it definitely more green than blue. Of course. that is exactly what I was going for. One thing I noticed when washing the dye out for the first time is that it looked blue going down the drain. My guess for those of you bleaching is that it will fade to a more of a blue color than green, even though it goes on pretty green. My friend said the color reminded her of sea foam, but my mom described it as martian-like. This dye won't turn you into a microbial organism, but it will make you feel like a mermaid!

Jerome Russell Punky Color Alpine Green
This dye is significantly cheaper than other vegetable dyes, like Manic Panic, and works better, in my opinion. I have chin-length layered hair, albeit a lot of it, and used nearly an entire tub on it, so I would recommend buying more than one if your hair is longer. I applied it to my freshly bleached hair with a tinting brush and left it on for five or six hours under a plastic cap so it wouldn't dry out. I combed it through several times, and when blue-ish foam collected on the comb, I just reworked that through my hair. Unlike my other experiences with vegetable dye, loads of color did not rinse off immediately after. In contrast to the dark color of the product, the water ran a very light green color, almost lime, so I was left with the vibrant green advertised on the label. I found it's smell very pleasant, exactly like grape koolaid or grape soda, but since I only bought Alpine Green, I can only vouch for its smell. It's conditioning effects were pretty standard in terms of vegetable dye. It softened my hair immensely and added shine. The color lasted for around five weeks before I redyed it, but it faded into nice shades of green. It remained very vibrant unless I slacked on mixing the dye with my conditioner on wash days. The only issue I had was that at the end of week five, there were blue-ish tints toward the roots of my hair which I didn't fancy too much. The dye does stain, but only if you're not careful. I wore gloves when applying it, and tried my best to keep it off my skin and bathroom, but accidents happened. Fortunately, the dye washed off readily from skin with just some soap and warm water. My white sink wasn't so easy. I had to involve some rubbing alcohol and scrubbing action, but that took care of any spots. It didn't color my pillowcase or sheets, nor any of my clothes, but the lime-colored water produced from washing does tint towels. Overall, I'm pretty pleased. Cheap, lasting-color, nice smell, minimal staining.

BEST green hair dye ever !!!
I've been using this dye on my partner for YEARS because there really is nothing else like it, its the perfect long-lasting emerald green. I usually mix Punky Alpine Green it with Lime Crime Sea Witch as a base because its sooo pigmented. You could do the same with a good conditioner, a little goes such a long way. It fades beautifully and stays vibrant for over 5 months on bleached hair. My only complaint is that it does bleed like crazy right after dyeing both from sweat and from washes, but I usually combat this by using clarifying shampoo the first couple washes. I've tried the purple once before and loved it's longevity too, but it wasn't my shade so I only used that one once. If you're looking for a deep green with incredible, almost permanent longevity that is still removable with bleach this is the one. I only hope they expand their shade ranges so I can find a shade perfect for me too!

Not always green
The color was super vibrant when I first put it in my hair, and I really loved the shade. However, after washing my hair for the first time 3 days later, I noticed the green started fading into a blue color. I’ve used a lot of different green semi-permanent hair dyes over the years, and I’ve never had a green fade blue before. It wasn’t the fade I was expecting, so I was pretty disappointed. If you’re looking for a true green that stays green as it fades, this may not be the best choice.

Stains tubs but is a beautiful color for months after application
I've been using alpine for years it fades to a nice turquoise as pictured with my long hair and is a vibrant lovely green freshly done as shown while I had short hair. I will continue to return to this dye as it makes my hair feel super soft after application and compliments my natural hair color well. I have almost black hair and definitely have to bleach before applying to see anything but is a lovely color It does stain bathtubs and everything it touches for several washes. So I usually treat my tub walls and face/ neck with petroleum before I apply the dye to avoid stains. After the water starts running clear several wash days later I'll use dish soap to wash the petroleum off the tub.

Will buy again
Stick to the hair well very vivid colors. I would compare it to fox. I feel like Fox hair dye stains the skin a little bit more. I just did my hair two days ago so not sure how long it’s gonna last. I’ve been doing a split eye of green and purple for a while so I’m sure it’ll last a while. I don’t really shampoo my hair often and when I do wash my hair with cold water so that helps. Downfall it’s very small. So if you have long hair prepare to buy a few of you want full coverage. I feel like because it not sunny out the picture doesn’t give it justice.

The colour is very pigmented and lasts a long time. The colour stains my tiles every time I was my hair so I need a new alternative. Delivery time was amazing!

Good
it’s a really thick hair dye, i applied it over green hair and blonde roots, and it turned my roots the perfect shade of green but unfortunately the green i already had in turned really dark, almost black looking unless i’m in the sun. I’m not upset about it or anything, it’ll fade into the perfect green so i have no doubt it’ll last me a long time. It does stain everything but it comes off pretty easy, on skin all you need is some soap and water but if it’s on the counter you’ll need to use alcohol. I haven’t had an issue with it coming off onto my clothes but i do sleep with a silk bonnet just to be safe and it does the trick. When my hair is damp or i put product in my hair the dye stains my hands but like i said it washes off really easily so it’s not too big of a deal. really great for the price and it kinda smells like grapes! I just wish i could order more than 3 of the same colour at once, i have a lot of hair.

Pigmented
Love the colour, took awhile for the water to run clear after rinsing it out the first time with cold water. Definitely stains my pillowcases though.
