The width is approximately 1 inch wide. The earring hook shown in the picture above is silver plated. I also offer hypoallergenic surgical steel earring hooks for more sensitive skin. Sterling Silver is also available as an upgrade. The bead colors I used in this piece are: opaque white, metallic silver, navy blue, and deep frosted matte red.
