“For me, the essence of this book is the lyrics and I believe they stand the test of time because they are written about man’s eternal quest, dilemmas, joys and sorrows. George’s lyrics were, in my opinion, the most spiritually conscious of our time” – Olivia Harrison Cherished by fans and collectors, I Me Mine is the closest we will come to George Harrison’s autobiography. This new volume has been significantly updated since the 1980 original. For the first time I Me Mine – The Extended Edition covers the full span of George Harrison’s life and work, exploring his upbringing in Liverpool, the growth of Beatlemania, his love of India, gardening and racing cars. I Me Mine also presents 141 of George Harrison’s songs. With lyrics handwritten and reproduced in facsimile, accompanied by his uniquely intimate and humorous commentary, this new edition of I Me Mine now includes more than 50 additional lyrics written for the Beatles and Harrison’s solo albums — from All Things Must Pass to Brainwashed . With written contributions from Olivia Harrison and Derek Taylor, original cover art by Shepard Fairey, and a wealth of previously unpublished material, I Me Mine –The Extended Edition is a treasured portrait of George Harrison and his music. “Writing a song is like going to confession... writing songs to try and find out who you are.” –George Harrison “A book which tells the story of growing up, not necessarily the hard way but certainly not the easy way, for no matter how greatly privilege and wealth may have seemed to grace the Beatles’ evolution, ‘easy’ is not the word for what happened to them on their way to what has come to be known as The Top.” – Derek Taylor Review: I, Me, Mine - I was a bit overwhelmed at the size and weight of this substantial book by George Harrison. I’ve always been intrigued by George and his life so wanted something written by him. After exploring and starting to read, I realized that this was not a 700 page+ written biography - thank goodness!! There are wonderful written portions of George’s experiences - always humble and numerous, and many many pages of his written music, personal photos and more. This is a great book to gift to a George fan. I highly recommend it as a wonderful memory of a great artist, composer, musician who communicated his spiritual beliefs through music. Review: Great Book! Won’t Bore You At Tall!!!! - George is my favorite Beatle. He has been ever since he introduced the Sitar and India-inspired songs to the roster. Of all four, he’s the most knowledgeable guitarist and his songs after the group disbanded are my faves. Naturally, I couldn’t pass this book up when I came across it. It is insightful, entertaining and fun! This isn’t the book you read through like w novel, this is the book you keep on your coffee table or nightstand to savor! The begging is a little bio of sorts, then we go into some stellar photos but the best part is the stories about his songs! I had no idea Savoy Truffle was inspired by Eric Clapron’s bad tooth and a box of chocolates! Whether you are a Harrison fan or a Beatles fan in general, this is a remarkable book to have !!!

It's like having an extended conversation with George
Lifetime Beatles ultra fan, here. I felt like I was having a conversation with George while reading the book. I am a musician and songwriter, so reading what he was thinking about when he wrote so many of his great songs was a wonderful treat from a man lost far too soon. I miss him! This is a great companion or extension to Living In the Material World, published 10+ years earlier. No Beatle fan should be without this.

Thinking for Myself
To say this is an autobiography would be to use the term very loosely. Those who are purchasing the book should be aware of this. While the volume is several hundred pages long, the actual "autobiographical" information is contained to the first 75 (ish) pages, and this section is effectively an extended interview between George and Neil Aspinall. By this I mean, George discusses something for a few paragraphs and Neil chimes in with italicized text to elaborate or give context to George's musings. The vast, vast majority of the book is scans of song lyrics with short paragraphs (or sometimes even just a few sentences from George) explaining something about the song, writing the song, or the legacy of the song. That being said, this is a lovely book. While it may not be as detailed in the autobiographical section as many would like, the handwritten lyrics are lovely and the piece is very well laid out with beautiful artwork and photographs. Fans of George Harrison will certainly enjoy this book, even if it does not provide much by way of autobiography.

BEST GIFT EVER!!!
I bought this book for my nephew (who’s a HUGE Beetles/George Harrison fan) for Christmas. He lives in another state so I wasn’t able to physically hold and see the book for myself but I was told the book (I bought it used because this book seems to be pretty hard to find and when you can find it it’s extremely expensive) arrived in perfect condition and my nephew LOVED it. I also want to add that the price of the book was super reasonable especially after doing some research. I’d definitely buy from this buyer again.

WHAT IS LIFE...
I've always been a huge George Harrison fan. I have CDs, LPs, posters, books and a lot of memorabilia, but not (amazingly, for a so called "huge fan") this beautiful piece. Everyone said to me that this is not an autobiography per se, but a collection of lyrics with a little review by George himself. And certainly... it is. Harrison is not a common person, is a notable and deep-minded musician. He said what he wanted to say through his music... through his lyrics. The only way to know what really happened in his life... is through the meaning of his work. This book is a beautiful collection of memories, unpublished photos, original illustrations, partitures... and the perfect words to know a man who lived for peace, love and music. I also have to mention the prologue by Olivia Harrison... just perfect.

A behemoth of a masterpiece
This book is long, has a lot and isn't always an easy read. But worth every penny and created a deeper understanding of his music and him as a person without having to spend endless money or time online. It's a physical reminder of his life and his legacy, and it was bliss going through his memories. Derek and Olivia did a great job compiling it all together and it warms my heart that this book was finished.

Faszinierend

I me mine
Bella edizione in inglese con copertina rigida e sovracopertina. Abbastanza difficile da trovare essendo fuori catalogo da un pò. Un must per i fan di George Harrison.
