Q: If you can’t use this device for fans then what would you need to use to measure a microwave fan speed? Manual says 4 speeds hear 2

You can use it for measuring fan's but obviously the variability comes with the size of the fan. The tacho gear will show RPM'

Q: Is there a way to stop the 'auto turn-off' function?

Yes you can! At the lower right of instructions, you will see item 6.5 Automatic Shutdown. To turn that off, you boot after pressing the HOLD key. (press and hold the HOLD button then short press power button). The display will read "APO OFF" and will then power up normally.

Q: Does the top vane rotate automatically towards wind flow direction?

Yes it reverses & is free flowing & causes no issues.

Q: What button do I push to lock my settings (kts & F)?
