Universal Red 24 LED 12V Car High Mount 3rd Brake Tail light

I was amaised that I found the exact 3rd brake like for my 2008 Class A motorhome, 2 wire install and the same holes in the brake light matched my existing holes, good quaility product.

I needed a temporary CHMSL on my Astro truck topper for a road trip while I waited for the factory replacement to arrive. This light is working out fine. It won't quite fit where the original wedge shaped light "AT-36-24" sits, but I was able to Zip-tie it into place at a sufficient angle of view. Some complaints I read about this PerfecTech Red 24 LED 12V Automotive light strip was that it wasn't very bright. While it is somewhat dimmer than more expensive lights, I found the brightness depends on the view angle. I noticed the brightest view was not straight on. The circuit board appeared to be at a slight angle in behind the lens. Where mine was temporarily mounted, I could adjust the angle so the brightest view was directed at a following car's driver position. Then it appeared brighter than the regular tail/brake lights. Of course drivers of taller vehicles would still see a somewhat dimmer light. It is a symmetrical shaped housing so you might find that flipping the unit over can provide a brighter view for a following driver. The price isless than 1/4 the of the actual replacement unit, and it was actually in an attractive package that I could have fenagled into a permanent mount without too much trouble. I will probably repurpose this light on a trailer once I install the topper's original replacement. It is a pretty good value, and is working great for me.

After 3 hours of careful routing and soldering wires. I realized I should have checked the light before starting all that. I made the final connection and stepped on the brakes and nothing happened. I confirmed power and ground to the light, still nothing. I have submitted a return and a new one is on the way. I will update if the replacement works. UPDATE: Got new light, but it was dead out of the box too. So I got to thinking, LEDs are polarity sensitive. Reversed the polarity and the lights work! Black is power and red is ground. There are no instructions included, so I guess I should have tried it both ways originally. The only other thing is the doesn't seem a bright as maybe it should be in full sunlight, but it does work. So 4-stars instead of 1.

Works great and bright. I used this to add a high mount 3rd brake light on my soft topper for my truck. Instead of buying a $50 kit from another manufacturer, I sourced out some industrial Velcro and extended the 2 wires to tap onto my brake lights.

Good product, at a great price, and fast delivery! I installed it on my 2005 Chevrolet Uplander to replace the rear tailgate light! It’s working great so far!

Product does not do what it as advertised as. This is not a simple plug in tail light and break light. I have tried to use it as manufactured and also tried to use it by rewriting it. STAY AWAY. Absolute waste of money and I can’t even return it or get a refund.

Hot and Ground reversed. I ended up having splice them to reverse and it worked fine. Otherwise no problem. I have mine wired through a softopper and it does not quite sit flush but I added a bead of silicone to where the wires stick out from the housing.

Perfect fit. Screw holes lined right up. I cut the wire and attached to brake wires already there. It has a gasket and worked right out of the box. Much nicer than the faded original light.

Works well but could be a little brighter. Be aware, the wiring is reversed. You need to splice and reverse the wires.

it showed up in a good amount of time but the wiring was installed backwards! if someone that didnt know what they were doing for wiring got it, they would have not had a working light. but once I reversed it , it worked fine, but its not worth any higher rating for overall rating because of the major whoops on the maker of this item!
