Voltage Converter 70W 110V/120V to 220V/240V Step Up Down Travel Adapter Transformer (CN Standard Plug)

important to have for out of North America travel. You get proper voltage in Europe. Be careful, For small electrical devices only.

I purchased this transformer to power a relay with a 220v coil from our US 110v power (easily within its 70w rated load). Before testing it in actual usage, I plugged it into a Kill-A-Watt meter and measured its idle power draw at 2.2 watts. That seemed a bit high at idle (an idle transformer should draw a trivial magnetizing current, but off-phase, so no net power consumption). But I decided to try it anyway, and connected it to the 220v relay. I didn't get a power draw measurement, because within a few seconds, the transformer sparked, scorching itself and the outlet, and (thankfully) blew the breaker. I'll be trying another option.

I bought an internet radio.... but it was a European Model and ran off of 220 VAC (The United States uses 120 VAC). This power converter was perfect to solve my problem. It simply plugs into my 120 VAC Outlet and boosts the power to 220 VAC. and my European radio works perfectly in the States.

Product connected to appliance with 110v converting to 220v . In few seconds there was smoke from the connector but continued to work fine . Immediately disconnected and applied for refund / return. The product is unreliable and cause fire
