Does This bulb turn on immediately or within seconds . I bought one for the bathroom to replace and old one and it takes a minute to warm , too long

This is still a fluorescent bulb, so it takes a second or less to turn on, and then depending on ambient temperatures in the room, a minute or so to come to full brightness as any fluorescent would do. If you want instant on and instant full brightness, you might want to consider LED technology. I hope that helps.

one light bulb came broken

The current bulb is the original that came with the ceiling recessed bathroom light. it is model f42tbx/827/a/4p. will this work?

Yes, that is a good cross, but the color, or Kelvin temps will be different. If you want to match what you took out of there, the 2700K, then the 20887, CF42DT/E/IN/827/ECO is what you want. The one you selected here is a cool white, or 4100K, and isn't as warm in color, it's more cool. But either one will work with the ballast you currently have and the fixture you have.

Yes, it's dimmable. Any fluorescent with 4 pins total, is dimmable as long as there is a dimmable ballast that is compatible to go with it. SYLVANIA makes the 51836 dimmable ballast for this.
