This thing is dead nuts. Picks up perfectly hanging on my wall indoors.

I just received the detector, powered it up for some recent weather. 2-3 days off and about 12 hours on and it starts beeping low battery, then displaying all kinds of odd light patterns. I get that underpowered electronics get cranky so may not be a second issue there. Factory website says should be able to run for about a year. Amazon refused to replace and would only offer returning for refund which is also unacceptable.EDIT - I contacted the manufacturer and they arranged a new one ASAP, no questions asked. They wanted the old one back as they seem to genuinely want to know what went wrong. Quick shipping and a free return tag. Got some storms literally hours after I got it. Impressive. I see my window light up and it beeped almost instantly showing closer to me. Very happy now.

First, this is a very high quality instrument that’s made in USA.Color coded visual warnings identify how distant lightning strikes are.Excellent water resistance and long battery life (use Lithium cells, not Alkaline).Took one star off because audio warnings are only useful in quiet environments.If you’re outdoors (especially on a moving boat) watch VISUAL warnings.

This product is everything manufacture claims. It alerted me to lightening quicker than Weather Bug. As I fish in many remote locations, this will be very handy. Down side, it is rather large, requires batteries and slightly heavy. But, that is a small price for safety. As I write this, I am sitting in my garage testing this unit. It’s estimated distance is spot on with the weather apps from local news stations.

I have been using the lighting storm detector while farming. I have it in my tractor cab and has worked great. I like the different warning colors and audible beep that happens when storm is changing it starts warning at 26 miles away flashes blue color lights and 16 miles it flashes green and flashes red at 6 miles. It has held up to all the vibration that happens on rough terrain. I recommend this product to anyone that needs advance notice of lightning and storms.
