Mooshka, A Quilt Story

Cute book
I bought this book for my 7 year old for Christmas because it is a book that you read and then you can purchase the quilt panel to make the mini quilt and cat. The story is very cute. I will say the story was much too simple for my 7 year old, but the quilt will not be. Julie is a fabulous illustrator/designer.I do wish that the story could have been a little bit more detailed for a 7 year old. Most would probably buy this book for a younger child and then make the quilt panel themselves. Or, some would opt to skip the quilt panel all together of course. If you are interested in the quilting part, be warned that it may be difficult to find now. I did have to shop around a bit and pay a bit more since it is now out of print. Amazon does not currently carry the quilt panel.Overall, this is a great little book with fabulous illustrations for a small child still reading picture books.

I gave the book as a gift to my great niece with one of the Mooshka dolls
A quality made book, but I personally did not get that much out of the story. I gave the book as a gift to my great niece with one of the Mooshka dolls. I didn't have time before gifting it; but as I read the book, I realized that a handmade quilt would have been a perfect gift to accompany the book. My grandmothers both handmade quilts in their homes from scrap material that came from discarded clothing or clothing that had been damaged in some way beyond repair, such as aprons, my granddad's work shirts, etc. It was also a way they used up scrap pieces left over from handmade clothing and pillows. They knew a thing or two about recycling, re-purposing, and up-cycling. They lived through the Great Depression and believed in the "no waste" principle and applied it daily.

Bought book, cat and printed little quilt panel and large quilt kit that all match the book.
The story is not as good as I had hoped, however, I quilt and had purchased the quilt kit and the panel to make the stuffed cat with a little printed quilt for it. This is for my grandson due soon. The product came quickly. The made up panel with cat and printed quilt were given at a baby shower this weekend. My son and his wife were thrilled. Apparently the stuffed cat looks like one that is at her grandparents house.I would still purchase this because it goes with the set. It is a story about a little girl.

Quilts also love their owners!
This is a sweet book that tells the story of a quilt, a grandma, and a new baby. The little girl hears the quilt talking to her. She also remembers/hears the stories of each of the fabrics in the quilt. But then the quilt goes silent...... The resolution is heartwarming. This is a book that any quilter would love to read to her children or grandchildren.

Get Imaginations Going
There's nothing like a quilt to bring peace and comfort, and it's even better when shared. I love the idea of the stories a quilt can tell. This opens a world of imagination for children in generating their own stories. I purchased a fabric panel in Seattle to sew a small Mooshka quilt and the charming cat that appears with Karla in the book for our grandchildren.

Lovely story
This is a delightful story about a all of the stories held in the pieces of a quilt made by a little girl's grandmother. The little girl "hears" the stories when she touches the parts of the quilt, linking her with family tales ... and then later with her new baby sister, as she uses the quilt to comfort her.

Nice Story Book for a First Grader
Very nice story. My grandaughter who is 7, read it very quickly. I think the book is for younger readers (maybe first graders?). The photos, colorful and cute.
