the shovel is a must have and it makes sense to purchase this item
I love the way this shovel fits in the trunk of my car and doesn’t take up any space at all. The folding design makes it very convenient to store, and you can easily keep it in your vehicle without it getting in the way. Due to the recent snow storm in NYC, this shovel really came in handy. It was easy to assemble and light enough to use without feeling heavy or uncomfortable. Even though it’s lightweight, it still feels strong and designed for the right purpose. This is definitely a must-have item for winter. I feel everyone should keep one in their car just in case of emergencies. It gives peace of mind knowing you have it when you need it.

High quality
This shovel is QUALITY. The handle is a little short so it involves a lot of bending over and I’m 5’4”. The shovel head itself is a little small so it’s slow but this is expected for a compact, foldable shovel for the car. It’s easy to unfold/refold. I attacked a huge pile of icy snow with it and it did not disappoint. Like chopped a pile of east coast icy snow to death with force. I’m sure someone larger could do some damage to the shovel but that probably applies to a lot of things when you’re larger than me, who knows. After slamming the shovel head into the pavement over and over, the paint wore off the front edge a bit and left tiny little dents along the edge, obviously that’ll happen when you beat painted metal against pavement. I was surprised it didn’t crack. You’ll want to be mindful of the angles you’re shoveling at, it is foldable and small after all so at some point you can probably do some damage to it if you work against it. With proper technique, this shovel is a mini beast. I used it for an hour with no hand pain or blisters. I never anticipated so much respect for a shovel.

Birdrock Rock! BUY This Shovel!
Super easy to fold and extend/collapse. Nice quality feel to the mechanism and the locking bearings. I just used this to dig my car out today and zero regrets. My back would prefer something longer but that would mean stronger and heavier and then you may as well buy a larger shovel. This is exactly what you need to dig out your car from your parking spot and conveniently stow it away. It's aluminum so it's light weight but it has that beautiful edge to scrape and slice through the ice. Check out the photo. I never had any concerns it might break, but then I wasn't trying to lift my body weight in ice blocks. Be smart, work smart, shop smart. Buy the Birdrock collapsible shovel, and then come find me in Virginia and buy me coffee as a thanks.

Does the job. Sturdy for hard snow/ice
Initial look/feel seemed like it wasn’t durable. The snow was already frozen. I was afraid it would just break it. It actually is durable. The only thing, the red paint chipped which is expected with hard snow. Gets the job done

Everything it claims to be for emergency use
Hasn't yet been put to.use. As described, it deserves the five stars. I measure it at 34 1/4 inches and has only minimal flex when extended. The grip is comfortable and sufficient for large hands. The short length will be a back killer if this is your only tool.to shovel your driveway or sidewalk. The scoop is about as thick as a typical garden shovel, but, being aluminum not steel, cannot be expected to be as durable. The scoop is attached to the handle via a well shaped plastic (solid?) block by four 1/2" (wood type) screws. The parts fit together well. Yes, it's likely to be a handy tool in an emergency, much more efficient and comfortable than bare hands digging your car out of a snow drift. HOWEVER, it's not as efficient as a larger, solid snow shovel nor as durable an army entrenchment tool.
