Good Reference Book
Very detailed and step by step instructions for setting up a bamboo farm. Easy to read and follow. It was nice of the author to make this information available to the general public!

Title should be: Farming Bamboo in Western Washington
This book is perfect for someone who lives in Western Washington or similar climate AND already has a working farm or wants to put a small grove on their property. There is good practical information for anyone interested in growing bamboo, but I did find some minor wording/terminology used that wasn't defined; "If you are turning(a)pasture into bamboo groves, spend a year disking and planting a succession of cover crops." (pg 21) What is meant by "disking" for mole control? I did an internet search with no such luck for a definition. After doing some preliminary research, I have to seriously question the cost effectiveness of operating a full-scale bamboo farm in Washington State for profit. This Author and others seem to point to Georgia (or similar climate) as the sweet spot for those interested in growing a large-scale commercial operation.

Thrilling perspective
This A4 format 'interestingly' edited book with some black and white photos and many line drawings is in part a result of years of experience with growing bamboos in the North West coast of the USA. Enthusiasm and passion for the subject comes through the text, and the book contains several information based on personal experience unpublished elsewhere. It is not an encyclopedia in the classical sence, but gives the reader a thrilling perspective and optimism in the topic. It is intended for those already interested in bamboo and living in a warm temperate climate.

Somewhat limited
This can at best be called a reference book as the experience and scope of the authors personal experience is admittedly very limited. It's scope is focused mostly on the Pacific North West.

great info
nothing else quite like it the market that I could find. only reason I settled on four rather than five stars is that it's a thesis paper and not really a book. that being said, the general info is great. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in growing bamboo (and no, I don't live I in the Pacific NW but I can still pull a lot from here). thanks for the source!

Three Stars
Good, but was focused only on the North west which was a disappointment for me.
