Aluminum tubes perfect fit for Newer Backdrop System
These aluminum tubes are a perfect fit for the Newer Backdrop System. I have a 4 roll manual system. -- and these work perfectly for the 9ft long rolls of Savage Seamless paper. They are easy to assemble -- be sure to have a small size flat screwdriver on hand. There are 3 pieces to assemble together, but really only one small screw in each end. Super easy-- I was able to able to use my swiss army knife. They are expensive -- and although others have shared their DIY approach to using PVC or metal poles from Lowes -- I can't imagine a better solution than purchasing the aluminum ones that are perfectly created for this purpose.

Simple, but too large for most cloth backdrops
1.625" in diameter, not the 1" and change listed, so none of the backdrops which I purchased (all of which were listed as "compatible" and suggested by amazon...) fit onto the shaft. Most of the cloth backdrops on Amazon don't specify the circumference (or maximum diamaeter) of the pocket for mounting, so make sure you either ask that question or find where they list it. Best way to stick the cloth backdrops to the aluminum is with double-sided tape to get it started, and then the Capstain effect (friction) will do the rest.

Hard to find Backdrop crossbar supports - Thank you
Finding a 10 ft backdrop crossbar isn't easy and often, when you do find one, it is collapsible and flimsy. Not so with the Fotoconic 10 Ft / 3M Metal Tube Crossbar. Not the easiest item to assemble, they worked perfectly with the four position electric backdrop control unit I also bought. Only one small problem with one section of one of the four bars I purchased - a sizable dent probably inflicted by UPS during transit or delivery. BUT, Fotoconic stepped up and promptly replaced the damaged item. Love these crossbars and you will also.

Does not serve the main purpose: paper still sags in the middle
I bought three of these crossbars about one year ago to keep my paper rolls from sagging in my studio. When they arrived, they seemed a bit rough and unfinished. I didn't really care as long as they did the job. Putting them together was not too difficult, but they were much longer than I expected jutting out several inches from the ends of my savage paper rolls. The diameter of the crossbars is a little too small for the cardboard tube of the paper roll so I wrapped them with shelf liner to make up the difference and ensure that when the crossbars were turned, the paper roll turned as well. This unfortunately makes it inconvenient to swap the crossbars between different colors of paper so I've had the same 3 rolls of white, gray and black up since the original install. I decided that if I wanted to have other colors of paper ready to use I might buy additional crossbars, that is until I noticed that the paper sags anyway. The main purpose of the crossbars is to prevent the paper from sagging yet all three of my rolls are sagging in the middle. For this reason I do not recommend these crossbars.

Get what u pay for
Okay 1st I want to say I think it is over price, then I install it. I see how much I am going to save over a period of time on my rolls of paper not bowing. So expensive today, cost saving in the future. With that said, this is a great buy. It is light and strong they should put directions in package but I figured it out so can you.

Muy buen producto. Lo único son las gomas que trae, no venían y ocupas ponerle algo para que no se barra el rollo.

Value - I mean they are quite expensive for 3 metal poles but i dont know the prices of these things. Quality - they feel durable and robust, cant complain there. no sharp nicks or anything from my perspective. Each pole comes in 3 pieces which you slot intogether, doesnt feel like they will come apart and was relatively easy to install together. Use case - Im using these as part of a roller wall with vinyl/paper backdrops on. Never felt like they wasnt fit for purpose or that they dont work. Works very well for me and very happy. Overall - would buy again IF needed to do so, price however would not make me rush out to get them. I would simply re-use the poles i have until i needed more.

This comes in three sections with two grub screws to join it all together and the hex key is supplied. Have 3 of these now in a busy studio and it’s stood up to a real hammering. Easy enough to cut to size with a junior hacksaw. Great value for money and does the exact job it needs to.
