Brilliant product, easy to install and well made, good value for money, I will be buying more for other cupboards.

I did a lot of research to find a set of hinges that looked good and would support the doors of my custom made bookshelf. Unfortunately, while these hinges seemed to work at the beginning, they started to fail fairly quickly. I had to resort to tightening the lock nuts each time I lifted the door and, eventually, the plastic bits in the locking mechanism failed. I finally decided to give up and have ordered a different brand of hinges to do the job. Unfortunately, it was just after Amazon's return period, so I can't return them for a refund. In the meantime, I've had to place some extra support behind the hinges when in use (see pic). Lesson learned! :(

This item seems useful for vertical doors only (meaning, a hanging cabinet where the door is on the front, instead of my toy box scenario where the lid is on the top). The hinge is stiffest when fully extended, and then gets weaker as it closes. In my scenario, this means that as the heavy lid comes down, it is difficult to get it to start to close, but then as it does, the lid accelerates to a slam, taking your fingers with it. This would be perfect, however, if you have a vertical front door on a laundry cabinet, however, as the door gets "lighter" the closer it gets to closed. The diagrams in the instructions seem to favor this use case, although it's not clear. Instructions are horribly cryptic. I'm an engineer, and struggled to make sense of them.
