These are the old stand-by since forever. They work well and are easy to adjust sensitivity. I do wish they'd crimp over the staples that hold the spring bar ends, on the underside of the trap, as when used in damp conditions the staples can tend to come loose. Think I'll try sealing the bottom of the traps that are used where they might get wet.

Have used this style for years inside and found them to be very effective. But my need this time was to control outdoor mice around pine trees and in a natural turf area. My son recommended putting a nail in the middle to allow them to be placed near the hole entrances. I drilled a hole in the middle and glued a spike nail in the middle. This allowed me to place them near the hole home openings and keep them in place- very effective. Like these traps.

So I'm used to using the Tomcat snap traps which are a very similar competitor to these victor traps. At first I was a little disappointed because the Tomcat traps are somewhat adjustable and can be made to be very sensitive whereas these are not and require much more effort to trip. This would be disastrously bad for a mouse trap but they have one huge advantage. The trip plate on the Tomcat trap is just a flat board which as sensitive as they are I have seen mice take the bait without tripping the trap. These Victor traps have a trip plate with a curved end that forms almost a tube. This means if you stuffed that tube full of peanut butter the mice CANNOT get it all though they will stubbornly try once they get a taste for it. This means even though it requires more force to trip these traps mice are more likely to actually trip them in their efforts to dig or chew the peanut butter out of the trip plate's tube. I've had a very high rate of success with these traps and buying them in bulk is dirt cheap by comparison. I do wish the spring was stronger even though it is similar if not the same as similarly sized competitor's traps. I have had some instances where the trap was tripped but there was no mouse. I am concerned a mouse may have tripped the trap but was not actually killed by it and escaped which would be cruel. Of course, it could also be that the mouse just approached it from the opposite side and wasn't under the bar when it tripped. To be fair, I have never actually seen a live mouse caught and struggling inside one of these traps. EDIT: So as an update, while I still find these traps to be good I have had an instance or two where a mouse was caught buy not killed by the trap. They may have died later I suppose but they at least escaped the trap. I have also had a few instances where they have taken the bait without snapping the trap. Still decent mouse traps for sure but I knocked it down to 4 starts as there is certainly room for improvement. The adjustable tomcat traps I think actually work better.

Delivered quickly and on-time. These traps work very well, and I've found baiting them with a little bit of peanut butter or cheese is vastly superior to the "pre-baited" traps which cost more. We live in the woods with multiple out-buildings, so buying these in bulk is the way to go. Be cautious when setting these outside as birds and other critters can get into them and meet an unfortunate/unintended end.

I have nothing against products made overseas, however, when it comes to the basic mouse trap, Victors of Litize , Pennsylania is the best, nothing made in China or elsewhere can top them. They are very affordable, especially, when buying in bulk. The mice in question in the area where i live are White-Footed Mice, known carriers of the Hanta Virus-which can be fatal. Having several outbuildings and even in my home basement being invaded by this species-left me with no alternative. I used to use a non lethal trap and relocate, but this was dirty and posed health risks, especially around senior citizen and child family members-Victors was the answer. Bear in mind, we throw no garbage out, not feed the birds, we have nothing that draws the rodents to our home-we have removed outside wood piles and such to reduce their being around-and yet they still came. The traps have put and big dent into their forays into our home.

These old buddies are still the best mousetraps. Forget the plastic ones and the "better mousetraps." These work. The release is hair-trigger and it is important to keep the thing clean. We get mice into our 150 year-old house twice a year and more, and we really cannot keep them out. Mice urine is detectable by another mouse for years afterward so they always find the way in, which is under a porch that I cannot remove to plug up, so they keep coming in. Use these traps with cheese or peanut butter both indoors and out. Indoors I just put them in the attic or cellar. Outdoors I place them near the mouse holes with some birdseed to lure them toward the trap, and place the trap under an overturned 3-gallon bucket with a stone prop on one side to keep an access under the bucket, to allow the mouse to get in. The trap being sheltered under the bucket works much better than if you try to just leave the traps out in the open. But the outdoor traps corrode after a while so I need to replace them. This multi-trap package is just right.

Tonight, I came to the basement to see a mouse trapped, disfigured yet still moving, 2 feet away from where I had placed the trap. Horrible. Don’t know how long it had been and didn’t know how to end the suffering of the poor creature. So far: these traps have been working so poorly (they are not sensitive enough) that I joke I am feeding my mice whenever I set them. Seven traps, some peanut butter. Peanut butter all gone the day after and traps untriggered most of the time. Once in a while I get a mouse, if I repeat every day assiduously. My traps were empty but I had left them in place. I cannot use again the traps knowing that mice die a slow death. And I think now of these other times when I found the trap at a distance from its original place. This little thing was hurting. Long and slow death. Hate it.
