With a right size nail, I punched corresponding holes in the flexible plastic sheets I wanted to join. Then I punched a hole in the receptor part of the button. The nail-like part I pushed through the common hole I have made in the sheets and pushed down the button all the way. Then I hammered the protruding top of nail like part a little and the two pieces of plastic were very nicely rivetted together. Of course it would be much easier to rivet pieces of thick cloth because the built-in clearance can remain as supplied.
