@mary c burnham just in case u didn’t know cold sores are HIGHLY contagious and can be spread through saliva and skin to skin contact so a two year old can easily pick it up from a parent or family member. PLEASE educate yourself before trying to answer people’s questions about a subject you clearly have no knowledge about online

Used abreva for a long time. Discovered this several years back. Abreva doesnt come close. Changed my life. Also, tea tree oil in a carrier oil (I use jojoba) works really well. Mix well in a dropper and dab it on the cold sore as soon as you notice it forming. I've stopped many in their tracks with this combo.
