Is ogo the same as limu? Is this Gracilaria coronopifolia?

Ogo IS NOT the same as lImu kohu. Fresh lImu, the original ingredient in poke, is saltier and thicker than ogo. However, I don’t live in Hawaii and limu is so expensive to ship so I use ogo. It’s an okay substitute.

My bag came with a whitish powdery substance. At first I thought maybe mold, but then wondering if it's salt. Not sure if I should return it???

Not sure about yours, but mine has a faint whitish film on it. I've had it in the freezer though, so I can't completely recall what it looked like when I received it. If you've already opened it, I'd give it a whiff - - - mold has that very distinct odor.

How long can this bag last, and does it get stored in the refrigerator or pantry?

I store this the same way I store nori. I keep it in a container to prevent moisture in the pantry. An ounce is a lot for poke. i use about a square inch for a pound of poke.
