Mingyuezai Womens Victorian Blouse Pirate Shirt Vintage Lotus Ruffle Tops

I was very worried about multiple potential issues with this but it actually was much better than expected! It fit much better than I hoped, it is still slightly big but it honestly isn’t too noticeable. The fabric isn’t the highest quality, since it is mostly polyester as I was expecting and since I have sensory issues with fabric I just wore an undershirt and that worked for me. I was worried about how wrinkly it would be on arrival, but it wasn’t too bad! For me personally though I will be ironing it anyways. The brooch and the separate fabric piece were relatively easy to attach to the outfit, although I wish there was instructions as I wasn’t too sure what to do at first. The brooch is nice, I wasn’t expecting anything to fancy, but it was quite pretty. The only two things that I find annoying was tying the separate fabric piece onto the neck part of the outfit and getting it to stay, it kept slipping so I suggest a safety pin or something small to keep it in place. The second thing was the sleeve lace, which out of box when wearing would fold back, so I will be attempting to iron the lace to stay correctly. This is a good top for the price! I’m using it for a costume and it works perfectly!

I purchased this as part of a cosplay of Silas from Sorcery of Thorns. The photo shows it right out of the bag. It is obviously needing a good steam. The fabric is heavy, not see-through at all, and the stitching is surprisingly tight and even for a mass produced item. It has a nice drape and stretch. The lace is thick, evenly placed and well manufactured. The back features a corset lacing~ the ribbon isn’t the best but can easily be replaced. I will be wearing a waistcoat over it as well as an embroidered tailcoat, so it won’t show anyway. The buttons are white plastic; I will be replacing them with mother of pearl or abalone for the costume. The color of the shirt is a soft fawn taupe, perhaps a bit darker than the online pic. It includes a simple tie back cravat (Silas would NOT approve) with a crystal cravat pin, each packaged on its own. All in all, it was a great purchase that fits extremely well and is of great quality. For reference, I am 5’3”, 125 lbs with longer arms; I bought a medium. The cuffs fall to my second knuckle and are very belled and floppy, which I think will look amazing showing under my tailcoat.

I don't usually write reviews but this blouse inspired one. The design is excellent and well executed, a notch above the standard costume. The material looks like cotton which fits with the Victorian theme, but is stretchy and forgiving. The XXL fit my plus 18/20 W figure well, with the exception of the bust area as other reviewers noted (mine is 48 inches which is within the size range but.... would be gaping open without a pin). Reading other reviews, I was convinced it was not going to fit but gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. There isn't an inch to pinch, but the snug fit is flattering. I'll wear a tank underneath and pin the bust area. Will be part of a fun witch costume along with a Victorian skirt. A bit more sophisticated than the usual "sexy" witch costume, but not frumpy at all.

Now by that title you'd assume it is a bit small for me - and you'd be right, though that is not the issue I have. I ordered this deliberately to help display some brooch lapels for my store, and I ordered it in my approximate size (small) knowing the display I have is more petite than myself, and even if it ran small that would be alright, as the measurements were a little larger for me anyway. It fits the display torso perfectly, but here are some points: 1. The stays/ties are but a mere suggestion. Sure, they will tighten the garment, but nowhere near the same way a corset would. Also, tightening it causes a gap to open up in the front between buttons. 2. The fabric is thin (I ordered white for reference) and nothing spectacular. If you intend to wear this, wear something white underneath and don't expect it to survive long term abuse. 3. Loose threads: though I didn't notice many loose threads off the bat and the buttons are sewn down, each and every button got caught on a thread when unbuttoning it from myself - without fail. 4. The torso length is SHORT: This is my biggest issues with this garment. For reference, I am 5 foot 1 and don't have an incredibly long torso but a decent chest. The item came down to just above my hips and the stays to my mid back. This came with an added issue where by tightening the stays, it did nothing for the waist - just the chest. The shoulders also became quite restrictive and I was worried about being able to move without ripping the darn thing to shreds. If you are of decent chest - go a size up... Or two. Just to be safe. 5. The frill tie on is nice, but it will move. I had an issue with trying to keep the garment from riding up, but if I pulled it down, the frill would try to escape over the top of the collar. I suggest pinning it down with the lapel or extra hidden pins, or even temporarily sewing it down into place if you intend to wear it long term. 6. It's a bit expensive for what it is. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular anyways, but I think for some of the issues it has its a bit over the top. If you want something you will use long term and for many years, I suggest finding something more professionally made. But if you need this for a costume or display (as for my case), it is alright.

Given the kind of material this shirt is made of, it's definitely meant to be a costume, which is a good thing if that's what you're looking for. But since it's costume material, you can see your bra through it; so it would be recommended to wear something white underneath it, or wear something on top of it like a suit vest or a corset. The shirt does have its own corset lace in the back, but I think it depends on what size you get that determines how well it functions? When I tightened it on me, it looked nice, but restricted my ability to move my arms much without the whole shirt coming up, if that makes sense. I wear a size small and ordered a size small, and it fits me just fine, but I am smaller than the average person, so depending on your body type it might be good to heed the advice of the other reviews. TLDR: Fits and looks good, but might not be true to size for some people. Fabric is costume material and see through in the chest area, would be a good idea to wear something under or over it. Looks exactly as pictured, comes in quickly with Prime. Would recommend for Halloween or cosplay.

Overall the quality is as-expected if not a little bit better. My issue here is with the fit. I ordered a size medium because I knew this fabric would have no give to it and some other reviews said to size up due to the bust area. As you can see there’s some gaping and tightness in the chest area, but the collar, waist, and sleeves are very big. I tried cinching the shirt a bit tighter to get a better shape and alleviate some of the bagginess but then it looks odd in the back (the chest was a bit too small even before cinching). If I sized down the bust would definitely be way too small - this shirt is better suited for people with a smaller chest (I am 34C for reference). It feels comfortable and the details look great though! Actually the brooch is way better than what I expected. If you’re willing to sacrifice some more specific aesthetic details for an overall look and a comfortable shirt then this would be a good pick.

Love this blouse! Material is soft. Laces in the back for custom fit. Neck was a little big. But one can alter that. Very Victorian feel! Tan color was very true tan. Not off white.

I absolutely love this shirt, especially the sleeves. I get compliments all the time and it really pairs well with my other clothes. I would say the material is a bit thin and not the best quality but these types of things usually aren't so that was to be expected. It has a makeshift corset thing in the back but i wouldn't say it really does anything because of where it is placed. It was definitely worth the money.
