National Blue Ice Melt Had Good Reviews, I Wanted Something That Was A little Safer For Pets And The Environment, The Tub Came To My Door Step In A Rough Looking Box, But The PlASTIC Tub Was In Great Shape!, I Have Ordered Salt Melt Before That Was Just In A Bag That Was In A Box That Barely Made It To My Home In One piece!!, I Have Not Tryed This Yet I Am Going To Use Up The Old Calcium Chloride Which Is A 2nd Choice., This Is More Money Than The Other Regular Non Environment Ones But I Feel Better Using This.!!!!!!!

This ice melter works fine once you can open the bucket. Once I pulled the plastic (wrap around) tab I thought the top would pull off readily. However, after repeated attempts with a screwdriver, marlin spike, and then a claw hammer the top would not budge. Finally I. perforated the (plastic) top striking it with a garden pick repeatedly. The bucket then became a 35 lb salt shaker which I emptied into another bucket. Don't worry about the top coming loose while you shake the container.....the top is on there to stay! I don't recommend this product unless you enjoy spending more time wrestling with the container (in the cold) than spreading the melter.
