Winsor & Newton Sansodor Low Odor Solvent, 250ml (8.4-oz) Bottle

I use a liquid gold leaf that is based in an oil and alcohol base - regular soap will not clean it but this stuff works really well. It is tiny (tried to show it next to a 4ounce jar of my body butter) but a little goes a long way.

I do a lot of coloring pages. It has been hard to get a decent blue sky. I watched a Youtube video that showed how this worked and I had to try it. Whoa, I was So happy to see my splotchy skies blend into one beautiful color. It really works best if you have several layers of colored pencil down. Wax type. A small paintbrush dipped in this and brushed on will kinda melt the pencil colors and smoothly blend them. It looks like it is well painted afterwards. Great product as a good price.

Works very well with oil Winsor & Newton oil paints. The smell is very faint, and is tolerable. It is very useful for both diluting the paint and cleaning the brushes.

The only thing I had an issue with on this item was that when it got here it had leaked in the packaging. Nothing too serious, just like 5 minutes of cleanup and a cap full of the solvent wasted. Otherwise, I am happy with this purchase!

Couldn’t find the intended purpose of this product and thought it was possibly Windsor’s version of Gamsol- it definitely is not and I can’t recommend it for anyone who has chemical/turp sensitivity as it produced an instant headache. The smell is not very strong but it imo is more so than Gamsol. Other than a brush cleaner, I don’t know what its use is- it doesn’t evaporate or dry fast- I had to wipe my canvas to absorb the tiny bit of solvent added to raw umber oil used as a canvas toner. Make sure you research what you’re buying with this stuff.

As is the case with art supplies with a long tradition, the quality is very good. Can package is more safety than bottle.
