Good edc
I’ve owned this for a few years now. 5 stars awarded for what you get at the price point I bought it at: $20. I really like the rubberized handle material. Handle is just big enough for a comfortable grip. The blade came sharp. The sheathe has the right amount of retention. Overall size is perfect for a fixed blade pocket knife. The way it looks like a mini katana is awesome. One thing I noticed, as a long time fan of the cold steel tanto, is that this is not their signature style of American tanto (which is hollow ground on the long edge, and Sabre ground at the tip edge). This has the same compound grind on both edges, I’m assuming to reduce costs. I like the other Kyoto slightly more but only due to preference of shape. One problem I have with both kyotos in an edc context is that the guard is not great if you want to put your thumb on the spine for greater control. You sacrifice that for the overall look, which in my opinion is worth it since I have plenty of other knives. Not the best carving knife or edc, but definitely worth $20 for the looks and it’s still handy all the time. This would make a great gift for that Japanophile in your life.

Sharp durable small size knife cuts anything
This is the second one I now own. I carry this when I handcycle, I am paralyzed and ride flat on the ground and Dogs do not like me because I am different. I hope never to need to use it but I have limited ability to protect myself. This is an extremely sharp knife be careful it will cut you easily. It is a small size but has a great fit to your hand and will cut about anything you can think of. Great price for a great tool which is well made and keeps a sharp edge.

Great little tanto Blade knife
Has a good feel in my large 8" hand and a nice edge. Overall very well made for the price or even double. Shealth tight rugged plastic that think enough to last. You use cord as a belt loop or any other means of tiedown for quick access. Make a great boot knife with a few leather cords to hold.

Great Quality for price - for small hands only
The quality of the blade and the rubber stylized handle are excellent! Its sheath/holster locks the blade in very well! It came sharp and it feels really sturdy. Now its a small blade with a small handle (read the measurements carefully) so if you have large or chunky hands its an awkward and uncomfortable fit. Ill use mine to open letters and amazon boxes.. too small to fit comfortably in my grip.

Cool, compact, fixed blade EDC
This must be the cutest practical tanto knife in the market. Not many fixed blades can fit so comfortably in the pocket and still offer all the utility of an everyday carry. That's mostly thanks to a 9.55cm blade that on a folding knife would need at least an 11cm handle. The handle on the Kyoto I is just 8.7cm so it's about 3cm shorter than an equivalent folding knife. The small handle is a tight fit for a full finger grip with my hands (10cm across the palm) but is perfect for a 3/4 grip with the side of my pinky up against the end of the handle still aiding in fine control. The faux tsukamaki (Japanese handle wrap) pattern on the handle is a nice touch that enhances grip security. The Kyoto I comes with a Secure-Ex sheath but without any loops or belt clips. I suppose that's fine given the price. Retention is good; I haven't been able to shake the knife out of the sheath. Given the Kyoto I's size it would work well as a neck knife or boot knife, but I think I'll add loops or a clip to the sheath for horizontal belt carry. The blade was very sharp but not quite razor sharp out of the box. I've used it for some light cutting and package opening tasks and don't currently see the need to further sharpen at the moment. Overall an interesting, useful, and fun knife that's a great value at the current price (bought at $22.29).

Mini Masterpiece
This is one fine little knife. The grip is outstanding (fits my hand perfectly). The weight is what I would expect from a robust knife however on the light side. The sharpness was something that I’m a little bit critical of (I like blades to be outrageously sharp) but, a few passes on the porcelain rod and a light stropping did the trick. The sheath when paired with a c-clip is something awesome. My state will allow me to carry it concealed and I have mounted to my belt at an angle where it’s comfortable and covered. It carries securely. And, finally I must say that when I use it for utility stuff (as I do) I get the experience of handling a well balanced, well designed work horse of a knife. I love the thing.

Cold Steel the way to go!
Always love Cold Steel blades! My lord they are always super sharp! All the mini series are perfect for my personal preferences and hold up in testing. They also use them in the TV series Foraged in Fire. That should speak for itself.

Like folding knife sizes but not the folding part?
This is a good knife for you. I was very happy with the razor sharp edge (Looks at bald spot on hand). And as a blade that can be used as a day to day piece, I look forward to using this piece and am glad I purchased it.
