Great preparation
Worked perfectly in getting my paint prepped for a vinyl wrap install. Used this along with clay bar + clay luber. Brought back shine and easily removed large particles.

Great cleaner, even removed pitch.
Mix as directed, you do not need to "make is stronger" great product, removed road tar, pollen, old wax, and even pitch from a tree I parked my car under.

Works well
Works well, after the first wipe down I cheated a bit and used one of the soft Orange buffer pads that came with my cheek buffer and then you can tell the difference even more so running your fingers across it it's still beaded water. When started using my three different compounds on it in the garage the first compound the foam pad turn black I had to switch it twice so it did loosen it up.

Does exactly what it says
I didn't know such a product existed (I'd been slacking the past few years in detailing my cars), and needed a wash that would remove the remaining synthetic wax and wash'n'wax from my paint after using a clay bar. This did a good job of that. After washing and rinsing, I could see that the water would not bead anymore and would form sheets that rolled off more slowly. That's all I needed to see to prove it worked. And it smells pretty good to. Glad I tried it.

Great for getting car clean before starting fresh with protective products.
Strips away all build up of previously applied products so you can start fresh. It also really helps to remove bug and road tar splatters. Don’t use this unless you are going to wax or use ceramic protectants after.

If you have an old car listen to this...
I have a 2008 Toyota 4Runner with 161,000 miles. I got it in 2012 and clay bar and wax it twice a year. Years 2012-2016 I waxed it with Mother's Carnauba and then over the top with Meguiars synthetic the same day, so really 4 layers of wax in the year. That's roughly 19 layers of wax folks then still wash it with Meguiars wash and wax in one. So I decided to strip it. Good idea? I used Chemical Guys snow foam twice to let it soak all the old dirt off and cleaned it with a pressure washer. Then did a two bucket wash with Clean Slate, then ANOTHER layer of clean slate and used Griots synthetic clay bar with the clean slate as the lubricant to get a real good decontamination. Holy rock chips batman! I think all the layers of wax hid a lot of the rock chips I had on the hood. Paint is coming off in some places and I think all the wax held everything in place. I’m glad I did this so now I know what condition my paint is really in. I waxed with Meguiars Tech wax 2.0. I don’t plan on doing a two coat waxing because I don’t drive my personal vehicle for work anymore and park in a covered garage for my 40 hour work week. I also plan on using some type of wash and wax in one or a spray as you dry wax throughout the summer. I don’t plan on stripping anymore wax for a while so I’m sitting on a considerable amount of this product still. Maybe I should have used Dawn dish soap? I still recommend this though.

Strips old wax
Easy to use and did a good job of stripping off the old wax. I used this product in preparation for F11. The soap has a good scent and foams well.

Pass
I’m really not a fan of Chemical Guys stuff, but I’ve never tried this before, and it was the only strip soap I could get my hands on quick enough for my purposes. I should have just waited for something better. I didn’t enjoy this product at all, and it barely seemed to do its job. Maybe it’ll be great for some, but it wasn’t for me.

As a devoted car enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Chemical Guys CWS80316 Clean Slate Deep Surface Cleaning Car Wash Soap, and I'm thrilled to share my positive experience with this product. The Clean Slate car wash soap lives up to its name by providing a fresh start for your vehicle's finish. I was particularly intrigued by its promise to remove old car waxes and sealants, and it delivered exactly as advertised. This soap effectively stripped away the layers of old product buildup, revealing the true beauty of my car's paint beneath. The application process was straightforward, and the soap created a satisfying amount of suds that ensured even coverage. The deep cleaning action was evident as I worked the soap into the paint – you could literally feel the grime and contaminants being lifted away. What impressed me the most was how gentle yet thorough the Clean Slate soap is. Despite its powerful cleaning properties, it didn't harm or dull the paint in any way. Instead, it left behind a clean and smooth surface that acted as a blank canvas, ready for a fresh coat of wax or sealant. The 16 oz bottle provides enough product for multiple washes, and considering the quality and effectiveness, it's a great value for the price. The packaging is sturdy and user-friendly, making it easy to dispense the right amount of soap. For anyone looking to give their vehicle a true clean slate and start anew with their detailing routine, the Chemical Guys Clean Slate Deep Surface Cleaning Car Wash Soap is a must-have. It delivers on its promise of removing old car waxes and sealants while leaving your car's finish looking revitalized and ready for the next step in your car care regimen. If you're serious about maintaining your vehicle's appearance, this car wash soap should definitely be in your arsenal. Highly recommended!

While it's really hard to say how well it actually works in different situations, but in my case it seemed to remove all of the previous coatings leaving no hydrophobic properties or protection on the vehicle. I used it in a foam cannon in conjunction with two buckets and wash mitts with success. I did find that because this is a liquid rather than a gel that it didn't foam up quite as nicely as my regular wash, but it worked nonetheless.
