Hibiclens – Antimicrobial and Antiseptic Soap and Skin Cleanser – 32 oz – for Home and Hospital – 4% CHG, Packaging May Vary

While my wife was pregnant she was very sensitive to smells, she didn't like fragrances like perfume or deodorant. So I stopped wearing deodorant and needed some way to keep my armpits from stinking and I turned to this product. I use it in the shower on my armpits and it does a great job of killing the bacteria on the skin that causes stinky armpits. After I use this I can go several days without my armpits smelling bad even if I don't use it again every day. This is what they use for pet shampoos and they use it in hospitals for surgery to kill bacteria. No idea why they don't use it in normal body soap and shampoo, maybe it's harsh on some people's skin, but it works great for me, so I've kept using it for over a year. I like that it lets me not have to use antiperspirant because that has aluminum in it that some people think might be harmful as an endocrine disruptor, so I just continue using this instead.

I dilute this into a travel size bottle with water as use this as a 1st step face cleanser. I put some diluted hibiclens onto a cotton oval and wipe down my face/neck to kill any bacteria/fungus on my skin and remove any dirt/dead skin (avoid eyes, lips and ears). Then I use my CeraVe Salicylic Acid face wash after. Pre-cleansing with hibiclens has helped really clear up my skin and it is a great prep to help the Salicylic Acid get into my pores to absorb excess oil and dissolve sebum plugs. Great combo for acne prone skin!

This stuff has gotten so expensive. I remember not too long ago even it was pretty cheap even at walmart. Not anymore. It really makes me want to get into the 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate business because there is really no good (cheaper) alternative that I've found. Until I find another option I'll have to keep paying nearly $1+ an ounce for this stuff because it is really freaking great. Research what you're doing before you use this as a whole body soap or start putting in on sensitive areas.

I have had acne for decades. I read on FB that Hibiclens was the best soap to prevent acne as it is a powerful antibacterial cleanser. I don't usually give FB claims much credence, so I researched it. I bought a small bottle and tried it. I actually had a week with one small pimple. That sold me. I buy the large size now. Note that it doesn't foam. Do not scrub hard when cleansing as your abraded skin needs the good bacteria and this stuff is powerful! I have surgery coming up and was instructed to use it for two days prior to help prevent infection. Head's up: avoid eyes, nose, mouth, and especially "privates" per my preo-op instructions as permanent damage can occur. Yowza! That is some powerful antibacterial!

This was suggested to me by my dermatologist because I have HS. Those is a wonderful product and helps so much. This has cut down the number of issues I have had.

I like that this soap is antimicrobial and antiseptic, and it definitely does what it’s supposed to do in terms of cleansing. I feel confident using it when I really want something that’s more medical-grade and effective. That said, the consistency is very thin, which makes it a little frustrating to work with since it runs off your hands so easily. It also left my skin feeling pretty dry afterward, so I definitely recommend following up with a good moisturizer. Overall, it’s effective and useful for its intended purpose, but the texture and drying effect are things to keep in mind.

My husband was hospitalized 6 times back-to-back this year, due to recurring bladder infections (UTI) from using indwelling foley catheter - the first of these admissions developed into sepsis. This Hibiclens solution is what the nurses used for hubby's "CHG daily wash" (hospital protocol for catheter users) focusing on his private areas to help kill the existing bacteria and prevent new infections. While the hospital didn't tell us to continue this routine at home, we did it anyway just because we had become used to it. And so far... 4.5 weeks since his last discharge.... he hasn't had any infections!!!
