I'm a little confused by the opening. They boys are falling all the way out of the slit; am I not putting them on right?

Your most likely putting them on correctly.. I have multiple pairs of these and my boys sneak their way out as well. My other part stays nicely in the sleeve section but my boys do come out.

Do these contain latex?

no ideal, I threw them away they wore way to tight

How do these compare to David Archy or Separatec?

Separatec seems to be longer and more in the style of boxer briefs. These are shorter and more trunk like.
