Redington Fly Fishing Field Kit, Fly Rod and Reel Combo Starter Kit, Line and Carrying Case Included

I reviewed just the rod before and buy these up when the price is right. Great rod if you don’t care to be cool with a sage but catch more fish.

Several years ago I bought a Reddington Crosswater combo because I didn’t want to spend $$$ on an 8 weight that I would seldom use, but I was so pleased with it, I use it more often than I ever thought I would. I had in mind to upgrade to a “better” rod one day, but it hasn’t happened yet. So when I decided to buy a Spey rod for trout I got this 4 wt combo. Arguably the rod, and line (Rio Trout Spey) are worth the asking price, you will likely want to upgrade the reel, although it is serviceable, the case is nice looking and sturdy, comes with a couple of leaders. You could pull this out of the box, tie on a fly, and hit the water.

This is a super value - a high quality and high performing rod (with a lifetime warranty), a high performance reel, a high quality use-specific fly line (mad by Rio) and attached leader, all housed in a reel-on rod case. This kit is truly a high value outfit from a company (Redington) known to offer quality products. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!!

The complete Euro Nymphing Field Kit was excellent. It was ready to fish right out of the case. This is a great value for the cost and a good way to start Euro Nymphing without breaking the bank. The out fit was well balanced and fun to fish with. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 rating is the reel drag failed. The customer service was excellent. I sent the reel back (at their cost, it was under warranty) and received my replacement reel today. Unfortunately, Reddington/ Far Bank is out of stock of the Run reels until the end of May or so. they called to let me know and offered the Behemoth re as a replacement. I accepted the offer and expect to be back on the water with my nymphing outfit this weekend.

I got a 3Wt, 10' Euro nymph combo to give it a try after using my son's set up. Redington equipment has a great reputation for cost to performance ratio. This pairing is my first Redington purchase and so far, I agree. Enough power to fight most stream trout, but sensitive feel for the softest strike and set. I highly recommend it. Not a perfect reel or rod, but very worthy of your consideration as a starter or "another" combo.

My Wife purchased this kit for me for Christmas 2025. I did not get to use it until April 25, 2026 on the Green River in Utah. On my third cast of a brace of 2 size 18 nymphs, the rod snapped in two 6 inches above the 3rd ferrel.

It was better quality than I thought it was going to be for the price.

Cannot be better, 1 star missing as it is not coming with a bag for the reel if you need to swap with another one.
