Very realistic and great quality
This gorilla looks very realistic and has such great attention to detail. It is a dream toy for any child or for any collector. It is a bit heavy and has some rough edges for young children but other than that it looks like the spitting image of a real gorilla.

Progresses word association for 16mo old
My 16 month old loves animals. He is learning to recognize images of animals, say their names, and make animal noises. Having these realistic tangible animal toys to match the photos in his books has helped progress his association with image, name, and noise. I noticed that once he gets an animal toy that he can hold, he starts to say the name of the animal, not just the sound it makes. He still puts the toys (tails or legs) in his mouth and gnaws on them. These toys are so sturdy and made with good quality materials that I'm not concerned about him breaking off parts and choking on them. With that said, I am still cautious and do not let him play with these toys unattended. The smallest animal that we've gotten him is the arctic fox.

Tiny toy, giant smiles!
He's not the biggest gorilla they've ever seen, but the kids love him!

Impressively Realistic Gorilla
The figure is wonderfully detailed, accurate and realistic. As a lifelong lover of animals and someone who as a child collected and played, for hours, with animal figures, I'm thrilled that my three-year-old grandson is nuts about them too. He is specifically enthralled by "sea creatures," and I have almost run out of news ones to get for him and so I have been slowly but surely introducing more and more "jungle animals" to his menagerie. Gorillas are a particular favorite of mine and so I bought one of these for my own collection as well.As a kid, I would have died for this and the other superb Schleich animal figures and my grandson loves them too. Schleich offers a very wide variety of figures including a lot of rare and obscure species and you and the child in your life can build a very impressive menagerie if you so desire. The only possible drawback to these figures is their cost. I believe their value easily matches or exceeds their prices, but reproducing a 40 piece set of figures of lesser size and quality; that you can purchase for around $15 - $20, will cost you at least 10 times that much if you buy only Schleich figures. Their larger size is, to me, a very big plus but it can make matching them with smaller, cheaper figures a problem for older children who will be more cognizant of the difference. However, they are not so expensive that someone can't afford to collect them over an extended period of time - assuming the child in your life maintains, as I did, his or her fascination with animals for a period of years. As gorillas go, this figure is the best available. A word of mild caution: It is made of nearly indestructible plastic and is very rigid. It will not bend and can't be posed in different positions. My grandson doesn't seem to mind, but some kids like "squishier" animal figure...this one is not "squishy."

Seems well made and nicely designed.
Warmth??? Ummm...no, but I also didn’t expect that. He’s made of a fairly hard plastic and nicely detailed. He’s the mascot of our new camper van. The only thing I would’ve liked is for his silverback to be more prominent.

These are really quality!
These Schleich animals are exquisite! I still have some that were my children's and now my grandchildren love them. I have a couple ahead and when they come over I bring out a new one or two which makes their eyes light up! I try to also buy a book that has something to do with the animal to extend the learning which is so fun. I did this with my own children, for the tooth fairy gift, or something to bring out in the car or hotel when traveling. Such a simple pleasure that helps their creativity, learning and appreciation of animals. The boys love the fierce tigers, bears, lions, gorilla, etc. and often have them fight each other. This is just boys, and so much better for their aggression and energy than shooting each other with toy guns (which I don't allow at my house).

Imposing and detailed, in a hand held package
I purchased this to use in a popular table-top RPG as a huge scale (3" base) figure. The material for the figure is stiff, dense, and very durable. The factory paint job is exceptional, especially for the eyes. The size of the figure was just a little too large for my needs because the longest length between its limbs on the base was about 3.5", but I made it work on the 3" wooden circle base I bought for it. After a little paint on the base and some turf, dropping this big guy onto the grid map was imposing and intimidating for my players.
