How long do I have to keep them indoors before they can be transplanted outside?

I planted mine kind of late in the season. About May if I remember correctly, A number of the seeds failed to germinate at all and the small seedlings were slow to grow. When they were large enough to be transplanted to 1 galllon containers I put them in the greenhouse I left them there through the winter so they could gain some size before being planted outside I plan to move them outside once they have put out foliage again this Spring the two that survived are vigorous looking plants that should grow well.

How fast do they grow

Black locust grow fairly fast. Depending on where you live and how close your neighbors are you might not want to plant any. They are an invasive species and might not be appreciated by your neighbors when they spread to their yards. They are thorny so be careful when cutting grass around them.
