How do you adhere the background to an aquarium so that it doesn’t look like a sheet?

I was surprised when I received this background. I guess I overlooked the fact that it was made out of fabric. I taped it to my aquarium using packing tape. It worked out fine and looks good on my tank.

Is this textured, like a rocky surface? can plants climb on it as a background in a terrarium?

No it is perfectly flat and smooth, I believe these were meant for aquarium backgrounds and are used on the outside of the tank.
