Great little travel scale for food, etc.
I had this scale for a while and then unfortunately lost it while traveling. It wasnโt available on Amazon for a while and I tried 2-3 different options that never fit the bill. Finally I saw this one again and snatched it up right away. The controls, while smaller, are easy to operate, itโs nice and compact - packs away great for travel or fits in a pocket. Accurate measurements and is not finicky on surfaces like many others.

Gold Jewelry weighing made easy
I have to weight the gold jewelry every year for zakat calculation so it is helping me a lot. This is pocket size and I found it very accurate.

Great for weighing coffee beans
I enjoy coffee and am a bit fascinated by the brewing process. I purchased this specifically to weigh coffee beans before grinding. I knew how much water my coffee maker uses to fill it's carafe, and I wanted to achieve a precise 16 to 1 ratio of water to grounds. I needed something that could accurately weight 92 grams, and this scale has a range up to 300 grams, so it's got the capacity, but still is sensitive enough that it can detect the weight of a single coffee bean. The scale has a cover which can be used as a tray for somethings, but the cover doesn't have the volume to hold 92 grams of coffee beans, so I used a Glad storage container which only weighs a few grams itself, zeroed the scale using the TARE key, and weighed my beans. After grinding and brewing, the results were impressive, my coffee had a smooth texture and a rich full bodied flavor that actually tasted like coffee and not sweetener or cream. The scale itself seems nicely made, about the size of a standard pack of cigarettes, and runs on two AAA batteries, which were included. I keep it on the counter next to the grinder so it's ready to use when I want to brew more coffee.

Excellent! With or Without Calibration Weights
Honestly, I bought the first one because it was the right price. Because I didn't have much faith in it being all that accurate, I bought a calibration weight set also. (So much for the right price.) However, I discovered it was only a little off and when I used the instructions for calibrating the scale (with the weights), I was able to set it EXACTLY. So, buy the weights to calibrate the scale if you need perfection. I came back and bought another one for my baking. I did go ahead and calibrate it using the weights I had already bought but since using it to measure salt for bread only needs to be so accurate, I gladly recommend this scale without bothering with calibration weights. It is definitely close enough for most things. So it depends on how accurate you need it to be. If you need exact then I recommend this scale BUT I think you have to buy calibration weights regardless of the scale. If you need it close enough, this scale is excellent. Oh! My only real complaint is, I can not read the units - ounces, grams, grains, etc. I solved this issue in two ways. First, I looked at the diagram in the booklet which showed the order of the units then I counted down to the corresponding light. lol Second way, I put the .1 gram calibration weight on and changed the units till it said .1 Getting old can be a pain!
