Better than expected!

You just can’t go wrong with Halos. It’s the best price point for the best performance for derby players who aren’t necessarily ultra professionals but who play competitively.

I play roller derby and these were the first wheels I bought for my brand new skates. At first, I wasn't too pleased with them since they lost a few chunks on the outer edge, but honestly, it never seemed to affect my abilities in play. I was frequently told to replace them but even when they really started to lose the outer edge, lots of big chunks coming off, I was still having an easy time and was one of the top players of a team ranked in the low 30s, so... meh. In fact, I liked them so much that I bought the same off Amazon. I've been skating on the new ones for about a month now and they're doing great. I know people harp about "needing to scuff" new wheels, but I never did that with my new ones and it's not been an issue.

I bought these as a fresh meat derby skater and just had my first practice in them tonight, and they were great. I like that they are the same durometer as the wheels I've been skating with (Bont ballistics), but still feel like they have some grip to them. 69 dollars for 4 wheels sounds pretty steep, but honestly, that seems to be the starting rate for most of the wheels I've been debating. Really my only complaint about them, is that they are less pink and more of a salmon color, but I'll live!!

I had a new skater that needed grippier wheels and these fit the bill perfectly. No problem getting the bearings in them at all and easy as could be putting them on their skates. Probably should have told them to rough them up a bit first before skating on them though...Still, they were more than happy to be off 85's & on 93's instead. Good job, Radar (Riedell)!
