GEFU Cubico Cube & Onion Slicer

Unlike a restaurant that needs mounds of diced onions & bell peppers, etc. for preparing certain dishes, we folks at home may use 1/2 of a large onion & 1 bell pepper for most of our stir-fried or frying-pan dishes.I have been searching for many years, for a simple mechanical onion-dicer, exactly like this, to relieve me from that tedious, eye-burning task. The GEFU 13900 is the perfect HOME-dicer for onions, bell pepper, cucumbers, pickles, hard-boiled eggs, etc. I do not recommended it for hard or stringy things like raw carrots or celery, etc. They need to be sliced, with a knife. But it does a GREAT JOB and is simple to clean! I am extremely happy with it!Note: It is not worth the high prices that the various web-site are asking. Shop on-line and you will see it priced anywhere from $25 to $70. Of course, I bought at the low end. I could have bought an electric food-processer for some of those prices but that is not what I wanted. Though I highly recommended this GEFU, I think it is well-worth, no more than $19.99 + tax. I still love it!I am sure that the price will come way down, when people refuse to buy a cheap product for an expensive price.

GERMAN, so it must be good! WRONG. It's not useful for any chopping because there is no way to feed the vegetables downward and still steady the thing. One hand to hold it, one to crank the handle, (which pops off), that leaves nothing to push veggies downward. The black knob keeps falling off with any pressure. After a few uses the black plastic that the blades sit in turns white with stress and is cracking. It's very difficult to extract food and clean it. I can't understand the motives behind good reviews, maybe it would work on soft butter.

Definitely have to put hand on top to keep from tipping over while grinding. Finely shreds whatever I've put in it, blades are sharp - careful while cleaning. Overall this is a pain to clean. Sometimes I have to push food from the top to get it to go through the blades.

I love these chopping gadgets, and I've been through dozens over the years. The problem with them is that if one piece breaks, the entire gadget is unusable and has to be thrown away.I've been using this one for months. I admit I've been careful with it, but I still vouch for its sturdiness. It's well-made and well-designed and all of it goes in the dishwasher with no ill effects.Four stars rather than all five because, although it cuts well, it's not good for actual dicing or "cubing"--it's more of a shredder. I use it on celery and pickles to make chicken salad; I use it to make quick work of onions. It would be excellent for making salsa, for instance, or making hard-boiled eggs into egg salad; but not for cutting vegetables to put into a salad. I'd be afraid to try carrots, or anything firmer than a firm onion, because I'm pretty sure it would break.

raw tomatoes are very healthy, but i find salsa (finely chopped tomatoes/onions/lemon juice/cilantro/peppers etc) much easier to enjoy then plain tomatoes, i dont enjoy spending a lot of time chopping food into tiny pieces, with this device i can make large quantities of very delicious raw foods (salsa type stuff) in almost no time, and eat some of it with every meal... this device works very well for me, me and my family are healthier because we own it... raw foods, chopped small = easy to enjoy..

I wanted this for peppers and onions, tomatoes but they are too wet but this is a great chopper for pecans and walnuts for baking

It looked broken when it arrived. I was assured that this was how they are packed. I struggled to assemble it. I failed. I can’t get it to work. I still don’t know if it was in fact broken as I thought or if this is a GEFU snaffu? Either way I can’t recommend.

When I went on line and bought this, I was looking for a nut chopper for almonds. This does the job. While it still leaves an amount of dust with the chunks, it's way better than a food processor or a pound-on-the-plunger type chopper. At first I was a bit uneasy about the force I had to use to to cut up roasted almonds, but soon realized this thing is well built out of durable materials that can easily do the job without breaking. It's not a "Cube Cutter" or a vegetable dicer, but rather more like a relish or salsa maker. Putting pickles in this machine makes pickle relish. Likewise, bell peppers, onions, and hot peppers make a great combination relish for hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches. I've taken to making potfuls of vegetable "relish" which, with garlic added and simmered for a couple hours, turns into the best veggie spaghetti sauce ever. Certainly a bit pricier than other similar gadgets out there, but well worth it for the job it does and the fact that it's so well made that I won't have to buy another one anytime soon.

I recently bought a soup maker, which is awesome, cheaper and better than soup makers owned a decade ago. However spending 45 minutes chopping and dicing vegetables, not so much fun.So I took a punt on this little gadget after looking at a variety of mandolin slicers, and I am so glad that I did. Like others, I was concerned how sturdy it would be. I use it on a small rubber mat to stop it sliding about and it has happily dealt with harder vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes.Yes, it does tend to mash softer vegetables like tomatoes and onions , but for my purpose this is not an issue and in fact it helps with making a smoother soup.
