Smokehouse 100-Percent Natural Chicken Breast Strips Dog Treats, 16-Ounce

Have been buying this product for some time now - saw complaints about made in USA or not so I called the company. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with a woman there who was weary of this complaint but very nice. I told her we love our pets, have learned to trust almost no one anymore and they were hurting themselves by selling products from China.As she explained,the confusion comes from the following: the "Made in USA" labeled chicken breast strips - what I have been using for my golden retriever puppy (who ABSOLUTELY loves them - really a healthy nutritious chew toy that lasts about 3 minutes - maybe 10 minutes for a little dog - when he sees it, he goes nuts - has never choked on them or had any negative effects I can see) is, as it says on the bag, Made in USA - they are processed in the USA and come from chicken raised in the USA.Smokehouse DOES sell another chicken product that does NOT say made in the USA on the package and this product DOES come from China.Buy whichever one you want.As to the complaints about not being able to cut them up easily - this IS absolutely true - so, if you want tiny bits of treat to use for reward based training, this is definitely NOT the product you want. I use other natural treats for this purpose (Merricks lamb lung is terrific for this use and my dog loves this product just as well - a one pound bag goes a long way - very easy to break up in whatever sizes you want in seconds)Finally, this product (chicken breast strips) has ONE ingredient: chicken. It is made in the USA from chicken grown in the USA. Because it is dried, it lasts forever, does not need refrigeration, makes no mess when fed to your dog, dogs love it - what else do you want for a treat?THIS IS AN ADDED COMMENT TO THE ABOVE. After a lot of thought, I have decided NOT to buy this product anymore (my dog still loves them) because if a company is willing to sell products made from China, given the complete lack of quality control possible from this source, says something to me about their values. I also worry about mix ups in labeling and if the company was running short on USA supply, would they simply switch over, do they really care, etc.I recently bought 40 pounds of frozen chicken necks for $20 from my local supermarket - a lot cheaper than any of these treats - and less convenient I will admit after spending an hour breaking apart a 40 pound lump of necks, rebagging them into smaller bags and using up the space in my freezer to store them. My dog loves them though. He'd Better! :) Everything is a choice I guess.

There is another product listed on Amazon which is almost identical to this one. However, the item is listed as "Chicken Breast Tenders", NOT strips as this one is. I was ALMOST fooled into purchasing this very similar product until I read the fine print. The item made in China said "Quality checked in USA laboratory" and at the very end mentioned that their product was "Item made in China is irradiated for your safety" Of course I like most consumers saw the "USA" wording at the very top of the description, VERY deceiving!! I have learned the hard way that failure to CAREFULLY read and understand descriptions almost always ends in my disappointment. This however, is inexcuseable, due to the fact that innocent pets are being sickened by this item labeled "USA".However, this package clearly states at the very top that it is "MADE in USA" in a bright blue color. I am extremely disappointed that this other product would even be offered for purchase due to the sometimes fatal outcomes. Lesson learned, please read all details listed with the product, and you will discover that THIS DOG TREAT is a SAFE, enjoyable snack proudly "made in the USA." An official Taste Test was provided by my Maltese, Spikey and given "4 Paws Up" for both flavor and freshness!!

I must admit, I was highly addicted to the chicken breast strips they took off the maket, the wagon something-the ones from China that had proved to be dangerous to dogs. I tried other treats, such as beggin strips, pigs ears and raw hide bones but nothing had the same affect on me. It got so bad, I had almost decided I was going to have to try AAA or DTA (doggie treats anonymous) when my best friend found Smokehouse Chicken Strips, and I am back on cloud nine! I'm 13 (91 in dog years) and was finding it very hard to change but thanks to Amazon and Smokehouse, I can still have treats and will die a happy, well fed, and possibly high pug. I was finding it hard to go out and take care of business but that's how I earn a strip so, but Smokehouse has made life so much easier on my best friend and her carpet. Dogs love the treats hard to break apart for small dogs

This review is written in July of 2013. Reviews from 2011 are still coming up as "Most Useful." These were written when there was confusion over country of origin. We have ordered these four or five times now and each package is clearly labeled "Made in USA". Goodness gracious. Give it a rest.There are several 1-Star reviews, apparently because the product looks, smells and feels like what it is: dried chicken meat. It is hard, not soft. It breaks into pieces. If it gets damp it will smell. THAT'S WHAT DRIED MEAT DOES!!! We have given these as treats to three different dogs, and this is how many have refused to eat them:NONE. ZERO. No dog we have given these to has refused to eat them or has complained in any fashion that they actually have chew the meat before swallowing it, or that we have to give them three or four small pieces instead of one big one.As a matter of fact, I'm buying two bags of these today, just because I can.

I've never actually eaten one, they are dog treats. 100% USA product & my dog loves them. She's a small dog so we have to break them up. I have a recurring order. Tried several others before but she didn't like them as well
