Does not stain the wood
Unlike linseed oil or Tungue nut oil this stuff is expensive but it really works.

Great quality furniture oil
This Ronseal natural look furniture oil works great - I had various things in my garden which needed some weather protection, but without wanting to stain them especially, so this worked great - it retained the natural look of the wood, was very easy to apply, dried very clear (with perhaps a little more warmth than the original wood), and everything feels much better protected from the rain. One 500ml pack did two large wooden planters and a small wooden gate, with two coats on each.

Does The Job
Bought this bench in June 2020 and after a year outside in all conditions it was showing slight deterioration in the factory finish, mainly tops of arms and seat, which got the worst of the weather. Decided to treat it while the weather was still reasonably good. Chose Ronseal because it was well priced and a brand I've used previously (although not this particular product). Did notice mixed reviews on Amazon but bought it anyway. Instructions said apply with a cloth but I used a brush and new dishwashing sponge to get even application. The uploaded photo shows the bench after the second coat and not fully dry yet. I'm very happy with the results. It's raining heavily today so I took a present day close up image. The applied Ronseal seems to be doing a good job at repelling water. They offer this product in various colour finishes. I stuck with the natural one to avoid staining the timber any darker than it already was. In use, shake this well, as there is a slight pigment in the liquid. UPDATE 11/09/2022. After two years outside in all weather, I thought I'd provide an update. Noticed some washed out looking areas after last year's treatment, paleness mostly on top of arms and seat, where water tends to sit on this particular style of bench. Had enough Ronseal left following the two coats I gave the bench last Autumn. Wiped it down with a damp cloth and applied one light coat as it's all I had enough for. Results are as the last three images I will upload. Bench looks good as new again. Ronseal proving to do a decent job! Sorry I didn't think to show before and after images.
