Can you run it without the carbon filter? What's the point of the filter if you already use filtered water?

Yes you can. Besides you should clean and switch water once a week. Because I don't believe in plastic waste, I decided to open the plastic filter and take out the inside charcoal and resin pads to trash. Then I cleaned the plastic filter and put it back. I might put a small mesh inside the plastic filter in the future or use filtered water. But the fountain still works if you decide not to use filter. ⛲
