Way to short. Burns your hands trying to put the grates back on.
We bought one of these from a home show about 2 years ago and loved it. Did exactly what we wanted. Over time the welds broke ( no biggy ). Ordered another and when it came, much to our surprise it was 4" shorter. We attempted to use it but we just kept burning our hands trying to put the grates on over the hot coals. Not sure what the reasoning was behind their engineering but it was NOT a good idea. We ended up ordering from a different company and the 12.5" length is perfect and just the same size as the 1st green egg grate tool that we bought. The other one was also 10.00 cheaper with the same quality.

Sturdy and handy, a must if you're using cast iron grates on the XL BGE!
Received the Grid Lifter in a timely fashion. Operation was a little "sticky" at first so I sprayed a touch of garage door lube spray on it and it freed up nicely and has worked smoothly ever since. This is a nice sturdy lifter and I definitely recommend it!

Excellent grill tool
Works perfect for Green Egg grates as well as Weber grates.

No quality control
I had great expectations of this product but while taking it out of the package the ring on the bottom fell off the shaft and flops around. I give the the Big Green Egg Grid Lifter zero stars.
