How do I tighten the rope to the tree?

That’s too much pressure concentrated in one spot on the tree and can damage trees. 1” to 2” polyester straps should be wrapped around the tree and theses ropes attach to the webbing. Using straps dissipates the forces over a wider area of the tree. Most state parks won’t even allow hammocks unless 2” straps are used to protect their trees.

What stops the rope from sliding down the tree?

Snapped on first use

Used this to tie a hammock to a tree & it snapped on first use. The steel hook flung back & hit my partner on the thigh, leaving a big bruise. Product description should contain a maximum weight if there is one.
