What kind of lubricant can be used on it once the roll starts tightening up?

This does not require lubricant. To operate the dispenser you must hold the handle and the knob on top simultaneously. Adjusting the knob as as you dispense plastic wrap around a pallet is what prevents the roll from locking up. It is a delicate balance that brings hours of bliss as the night wears on. I bid you well on your journey of symbiosis with your Palpak.

TIP: Once you reach the top of a pallet taller than your reach. You can adjust the knob “just a little to loose” and hold the base of the dispenser. This will help to get wrap around the top and over the highest edges of what is being secured to the pallet.

TIP: For short pallets 
1) Wrap the sides of what is being secured to the pallet.
2)Choose a corner of the pallet to start.
3) Adjust the knob “just a little to loose”.
4) Turn the dispenser parallel to the top of the pallet.
5) Dispense Wrap to the perpendicular corner.
6) Tighten the knob to prevent the roll from moving.
7) Pull the dispenser to make the wrap tight across the top of the pallet.
8) Adjust the knob to allow wrap to dispense to a parallel corner.
9) Adjust the knob “Just a little to loose”.
10) Turn the dispenser parallel to the top of the pallet.
11) Dispense wrap to the perpendicular corner.
12) Tighten the knob to prevent the roll from moving.
13) Pull the dispenser to make the wrap tight across the top of the pallet.
14) Adjust the knob to allow wrap to dispense and wrap the sides of the pallet again.
15) Tear the dispenser free of the pallet.

Definitely industrial strength!  For the price of the product, it is a deal for the quality!  All the parts are metal and it is very well constructed!  There are others on the market that are flimsy, this one by PalPak 100 quality material, therefore a quality product.
