These are durable(accept cracking silicone seal), easy (relatively) to wash by hand, healty(accept psbl. moisture trap in seal).
To Manufacturer: Product can be improved. Presently the seal can trap liquid, and possibly grow bacteria. It would be better if there was a flat surface on the can and the cover, with round silicone seal in between. This way a seal can be washed and dried with each use. It would also help cracking the silicone seal by over tightening that some people reported. To fellow buyers: I have compared this set to some alternatives, see table below. I like to hand wash. So I choose things wide that fit my hand, and don't have hard to get at crevices.Note1: I did not consider any non glass or non stainless options. There are very nice premium plastic options. But I don't know if they are equivalent to glass, or not, from perspective of leaching stuff into food. Also the covers of those plastic options have groves which are hard to wash by hand, and washing by hand is my preference.Note2: all number ratings are based on scale of 1-10, 10 being best, and are my subjective evaluations.Note3: if choosing to dish wash, then washing ease becomes a non issue (I think).Summary:Glass wins on being microwavable.Stainless steel wins on being light, more secure closure, silicone seal should outlast plastic cover, if not over tightened, but user must know this. It should be provided by design, but it is not. It is less likely to break, but with little care glass does not easily break either. -------------------------------------- glass with plastic cover------------------stainless steel-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dishwasher-----------------------yes-----------------------------------------------yesfrig-----------------------------------yes------------------------------------------------yesmicrowave------------------------yes!-----------------------------------------------nocontainer hand wash----------10-------------------------------------------------7(has non-strait surfaces)(would be less if it had non-rounded corners)cover hand wash-----------------5(fat on plastic)-----------------------------7(silicone seal is problematic)container durability--------------7(glass can break, but is tough)-----9(could bend under enough force)cover durability--------------------3(plastic can/will break: done)-------7(silicone seal can be cracked if over tightened)health benefit----------------------4(plastic cover ?)--------------------------9(silicone is pretty inert ?)weight---------------------------------heavy-----------------------------------------lightcover security----------------------5(can come off)---------------------------10 Overall, I like this set quite a bit. It is as close to what I wanted as it gets, with the exception of the seal not being easily washable and container walls not being absolutely strait, like the glass.

Best containers ever!
Those are literally the best stainless steel containers. I'm a camper, and i've spent pretty much time looking over the internet for containers like these. What i needed was:1. The whole container made of stainless steel. Most containers have plastic lid, which doesn't work for me. I believe plastic is no good for storing hot food and beverages.2. Screw lid. Like i said, most steel containers either go with a plastic screw lid or with a steel non-screw lid. These are literally the only ones that have a steel AND a screw lid.3. One wall. Those double wall insulation boxes and bottles are generally one-purpose - to keep your food warm. You can't boil water in them, they are way more bulky than the one-walled ones and, to be honest, they are not THAT good at keeping the stuff hot for a long time. In other words, double-walled are not multi-purpose, especially for camping. These ones definitely are.So here is my list of their pros:1. They don't leak (just checked), cause the lid screws tight and they have silicone leak-protection rings), so you can carry water in them.2. 3 different sizes make them good for almost anything - a bowl, a mug, a plate (the bigger lid), a pan - and a container, of course.3. A one wall construction lets you use them on the stove.4. However, the walls are thick enough. They won't dent, they feel really durable and strong, nothing like those foil-like stuff.5. They are really good quality. The steel looks great, the polish is good, the lids are tight enough.6. They are compact and nest into one another.7. They are completely stainless steel, no plastic.8. They have screw lids.9. They have a simple form, with no small parts which can break and are difficult to wash. They are perfect.

Not entirely leak-proof, so I doubt it can be airtight. So product not as advertised.
After the three containers arrived, I tested one of them to see if it was in fact leak proof. I tested it repeatedly, to make sure I was closing it properly. To test, I put water in the smallest container and screwed the cap on. I found that the threads made it so that the cap seemed almost to grind against the container as I screwed the cap on, rather than slide smoothly. I undid the cap and tried again to see if I could get a smooth close. No. I tried again. No. So I closed it as it closes and tightened it as tightly as possible with the water inside, and then I started shaking the container to see if any drops of water would come out of the sealed container. It took a few shakes, but little drops did start to come out. I wanted to be sure the drops had not already been outside somehow, so I wiped them away with a paper towel, and shook again. Again, after a few shakes, some drops came out. I again wiped those off, then shook it again, and the same thing happened. So these containers seem not quite as advertised, not quite leak-proof, and I don't see how they can be airtight if they are not leak proof. Also, if the closing lid has to grind against the container, I had to wonder if that meant bits of metal might be getting into food.

No leaking.
Bought these for my kids to use to take lunch to school in. I wanted stainless steel container that would not leak since all others we have tried leak a little bit. These have not leaked! They seem very sturdy and I expect them to last a long time. I wish I could purchase a package of three of the smallest size as that size is really the most practical size for my kid to fit into his lunch bag.

Almost Perfect
These are really nice stainless storage containers. I am only using them for dry goods--nuts, seeds, etc, so I do not know how they would do with liquids. They appear to seal nicely. So why 4 stars instead of 5? The containers came nested. As a result, the seal ring on the large lid is loose. I popped it in and sealed it up thinking that it would stick in place. Now, however, the ring falls off every time it is opened. It is quite annoying. If that stayed in place, this would have been an easy 5 stars because everything else is great.

These are great!
I use these to store and carry food that is wet, not dry, and they do not leak! All stainless steel, with a silicone seal in the lid. Easy to clean and re-use, day after day, after day...can't go wrong with buying this set. They are an exact replica of the same item manufactured and sold by Lunchbots, which no longer makes nor sell. These are the ones to buy.
