a really lovely book
the book was a bit different from what author planned as the pandemic and lockdowns started immediately.. it's a fascinating read, and a huge pleasure.. i was lent it by a friend, my husband then read it with equal delight, then we bought our own copy, as we plan to read it again!

Arrived damaged. Great book though.
I received this book as a birthday present a while ago and loved it so much I ordered it to give as a birthday present to someone else. It arrived swiftly but it arrived with a tear in the cover, the cover was marked and had large barcodes stuck to the cover making it unsuitable to give as a gift. This was extremely disappointing as it’s such a lovely book but was spoilt by this defect. As it was a gift I didn’t have time to return it for another so and have ended up swapping the cover with my own copy (mine has a birthday message written inside and so I couldn’t swap the entire book).Really disappointed with the poor care taken with this book and if I’d had time I would have requested a new copy. With regards to the book itself I would highly recommend it! Really lovely to dip in to. It would be getting 5 stars if it wasn’t for the defect.

Gorgeous and funny
I absolutely adored this book - so easy to pick up and read just a short section, relatable and funny in places, and insightful and descriptive observations of the nature surrounding the author as he wanders his local patch throughout lockdown. will definitely be one that I pick up from time to time to flick through and find the time of year we’re currently experiencing. Highly recommend.

Love the breakdown of this book.
Very clever, funny writer. Loved the way the book was segmented. Led to me powering through it in no time flat.

A splendid little book.
A throughly joyful book to read throughout the year, and to help one look for the natural beauty in an average London suburb.

Has potential BUT….
Not what I expected.I bought this because I wanted a book that explores the beauty in each season and moment of the year, to help me appreciate all the little things around me and be more mindful and present in everyday life. This book kind of does that, but there’s a big problem for me. The writer writes this book in 2020, so there are a few references to Covid, which I honestly don’t want to be reminded of year after year of reading this book. Other reviewers said that this is only mentioned a couple of times, but when I looked through, it seemed way too much for my liking. It seems more like a 2020 diary in some ways. I would prefer this book to be written in a more neutral way, so that it can be read year after year and still bring you into the mood of the current season. To give you an example: during the week of Christmas, he writes about how normally we would be all gathered with family, but not this year. That we’re told to stay home and not leave the house. Why would I want a book to remind me of those hard times, especially if I read it over Christmas? That will hardly help me to get into the festive mood. Just my humble opinion.
