Works like a charm
This freed up floors pace of two extra large kayaks and got them out of the way! Easy to store and manage! Easy to install and very sturdy. Secured all the weight of the two kayaks and accessories stowed in them with ease. Please make sure you install them in a stud or beam!

Great value for the money
Absolutely zero issues with assembly or operation. It works exactly as advertised. Part quality is excellent with no blemishes or missing pieces.Assembly does take some thought due to the variety of ways this can be installed. Plan it using the instructions carefully. The rope routing and length also takes some thought but is easy enough to do once you understand it.The few complaints about "not enough rope for two" needs context. This is two complete sets and there IS enough rope for two...depending on your ceiling height and if you use the tie between the hooks to keep from spreading. For an 8' ceiling, it should be enough. For my 9'6" ceiling in the barn with mounting OVER the joists, it was enough for the hooks to sit a foot off the floor with the end of the rope in my hands at chest level (I'm 6'2"). There was no extra available for tying the hooks together, however. I used extra rope I already had for that. Again, think ahead on your ceiling height and situation. Mine worked out just fine and I'm happy with the purchase.

DO THE MATH FIRST - not enough rope for ceilings over ~9ft!
My ceiling is 11’-3”, which is short of the 12’ that the ad said I would have enough rope for. About 36ft of rope is needed for the back pulley (11 ceiling to hook+11 hook to ceiling pulley+8 between ceiling pulleys+6 tie to wall), 28ft for the front pulley (11 ceiling to hook+11 hook to ceiling pulley +6 tie to wall) , and about 6ft to tie the two pulleys together at the hoist hooks - and the package only comes with 50ft of rope per hoist. I need an additional 36ft for the back pulley of the second hoist. I contacted the seller twice to resolve the issue of false advertising and they just tell me to contact Amazon for a replacement- but I’d have to return what was sent to me to replace and I’d be sent the exact same thing! Not cool. False advertising. I had to go to the hardware store to buy more 3/8” double braided nylon rope for an additional $17!Other than the false advertising about the rope length provided, this pulley system works great. Very cool how the break works. To release the break the instructions say to cross the ropes and pull sideways but it’s actually better to just push the ropes towards the kayak.Oh, and you need to provide your own lag bolts (or numerous 3” deck screws) to secure the 2x4 to the ceiling joists. Don’t let the provided diagram fool you into thinking the bronze screws are for securing the pulley to the 2x4, those are for screwing the metal cleat to the wall (to secure the rope after hoisting). There should be two cleats provided in my opinion because my kayak mounts are 5ft apart and the angle to one cleat would be too sharp and cause fraying on the ropes if I were to only use one cleat. I had to make another one myself by bending angle iron. This seller cut corners for sure.

A great space saving device!
Our garage has over 10' ceilings and this equipment let me use all that otherwise unused space. I wanted to put our canoe above the garage door and that meant that it needed to almost touch the ceiling. Using hints from another user here I installed two of them side-by-side. It works great. It takes two people to raise and lower but since each is only lifting half it is very easy. All of the hardware was high quality and did its job well. The only complaint is that mounting screw holes were a very tight fit on the 1/4 inch lag bolts so I drilled them out to 5/16 to gain a little wiggle room.I bought two pairs, one pair for the canoe and another pair to hoist a kayak and bicycles. The rope locks seem very secure and have never slipped but since we walk around under the boats I added a safety chain to all of the assemblies. It's probably not needed but adds some peace of mind. With our high ceilings and wide spacing of the hoists the included rope wasn't enough. The included rope seemed kind of cheap so I ordered enough to replace all rope. When I rigged the "better" rope I found that when it was lowered the hoist pulley spun madly until it was hopelessly tangled. The "cheap" rope furnished hung peacefully straight down with no twisting. I eventually found some rope with similar weave to what was furnished and used that on one side of the canoe. For the kayak and bicycles I used the furnished rope.

Great kayak storage
These are currently suspending our kayaks above our cars in our garage as I type this. We have 2 kayaks that are 10 feet long and each weight about 47 lbs. this storage system is securely holding the kayaks to free up space in our garage and are strong enough to allow us to store our kayak gear in the kayaks as well. They came with all needed hardware except the plywood we had to use as the joists in our garage run perpendicular to how we had to hang them. It took about 3 hrs to install the system and the rope to lower/raise the kayaks is attached to all for an easy pulley to raise and lower them when we are ready. They hold the kayaks level but we did have to use a rope to keep the straps around the kayaks from slipping as they are freely adjustable and can be placed along the length of the kayak at any point so this was just an added security measure. Very happy and now we can have 2 cars in our garage at once again.
