Does it produce ozone? Are there any dangers?

I'm really glad that someone asked this, because I have done a great deal of research on air purifiers. Rest assured that Sharp Plasmacluster generates almost no ozone. PCI technology is not a traditional ionizer. It works very differently so it produces less than 0.01 ppm of ozone - that is five times LESS than OSHA, FDA and NIOSH recommendations. Read packages carefully. Many air purifiers on the shelf don't use the word "ionizer" but still need to report an ozone warning on the package... because they really do use an ionizer. Sharp air purifiers have no such reporting requirement because PCI technology doesn't work the same way and generates almost no ozone. In fact, the way PCI works is to pull-apart microscopic airborne pollutants and turn them into simple water vapor. It can be very harmful in high concentrations. It may seem odd that typical air purifiers would have a possible respiratory side effect... after all you want an air purifier for your respiratory health! The truth is that the ionizer in typical air purifiers is there to deal with microscopic pollutants, viruses, bacteria, etc. that are too small for the HEPA filter to trap. So they hedge their bets. Is it worth it to you to kill germs in the air at the risk of possibly irritating your respiratory system? It may make sense for some people, in some cases, in some places, with limited exposure. Personally, I don't want that much ozone in my bedroom where I spend at least 7 hours every night. So I purchased two of the Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifiers (one with a humidifier for the bedroom, and one without for the kitchen area) I love them! Imagine my surprise when I purchased an Infiniti and the Air Conditioner features Sharp Plasmacluster, too. You can also find it in some refrigerators to fight mold and odors. I chose SHARP for a million other reasons, too - but the question is was about ozone.

Could you adjust the humidifier level on this unit? I have read some reviews complaining that it's too dry when using this.

Unfortunately the humidity level is not adjustable. I was concerned about that aspect when I purchased this unit but I have been pleased with it despite not being able to choose the humidity level. When the unit is left on "Auto" in the "Clean & Humidify" mode it keeps our medium sized bedroom around 50% (enough to moisturize your sinuses but not too much to cause condensation on windows). If you wanted more humidity you could have it on "medium" or "max" instead of "auto" though I am unsure just how high it would actually get.

is it worth it to get the humidifier version?

I personally wouldn't bother with the humidity version. The largest model in the non humidity version covers more square feet for less money. You can always use a stand alone humidifier.

Water tank refill indicator still on even when water is in the tank. Everything is put right back. Any ideas?

Look at the blue float switch. It needs to be “seated” below the tab that projects out from the side. If it’s above the tab, the light will never go off.

Tested this with a Laser Air Particle Counter after I purchased it, it does work and it rivals the Honeywell HPA100 which I tested alongside it (the difference between the two was mininal). They both were able to lower the ambient 2.5ppm air particle count to around 5-8 ug/m for my small 140sqft room. The reason I kept this Sharp model over the Honeywell model is that it uses a Polypropylene HEPA Filter, not a Fiberglass HEPA Filter -- Fiberglass HEPA Filters shed their respective particles during use which is a health hazard in my opinion. It does not emit any "foul odors", it is superbly quiet compared to the HPA100, and it's mesh pre-filter works well for trapping hairs and dust. Overall I am satisfied with this air purifier for it's low price, paper HEPA filter, and quiet functioning. I already have two in my house.

Overall, a happy purchase!! I think the machine works good, and i believe the air quality at my home got improved after a couple of days. I read some customers' reviews, knowing some people mentioned about the odor smell, so i put the machine on the patio and let it run for a few hours. It wasn't smell at all when i bought it inside. Any cons? i would say it is bigger than i thought, but it is ok. and it is light, so easy to move around.

Very loud machine unless you use night mode. When you bump it to high, it will drive you crazy. Also can’t find legit replacement filters. Have to rely on third party compatible filters that might or might not fit. It makes a lot of noise and hard to tell if it’s actually cleaning the air. I guess for the first month it worked decent though so if you need something for a short period of time it could work for you.
