Aviation Instructor's Handbook (FAA-H-8083-9A)

These books or Docs are free PDF downloads at the FAA’s website, however people who want a book prefer a good copy of a book. All pictures are in black and white.

I received a high quality copy - glossy color pages with good ink. I've seen some negative reviews here regarding poor quality prints. That was not my case...maybe it's luck of the draw? I was hesitant to spend money on a hardcopy since the digital version is free and there were a fair share of negative reviews here. But I learn so much better with real books that I gave it a chance and am very pleased with my copy. It's actually the best physical quality publication of any of the FAA handbooks I have purchased. The other handbooks were ASA reprints published by the FAA (unknown printing location). This one is not ASA and published by Skyhorse, printed in China. On a subjective note, it's has not been my favorite topic to read (theory - ugh!) but necessary for FOI/CFI oral (hence only 4 stars).

A GREAT resource for anyone conducting training in any field. With over 30 years experience as an educator, trainer and human performance technology consultant I've read hundreds of books and manuals regarding all aspects of training - from initial course design through evaluation. I went looking for a one-stop instructor development guide for emergency management and first-responder instructors that could be easily implemented. This is THE book! This book is based on many great training and education references and the material is presented in a practical, non-academic manner that makes it easy to read and apply to almost any training application, not just flying. The way the book is written makes it easy to substitute non-flying examples for knowledge and skill transfer.The guidance on how to apply the information is practical and very effective. For a VERY reasonable cost, this book replaces a stack of books that would cost hundreds of dollars and take weeks to read.NOTE: The diagrams are easier to read and use in the paper-based book, than B/W Kindle version. I did buy it for my Kindle so I have it readily available as a reference. Buy both! A high-value investment for lmuch ess than the cost of most single training books with less information.

This book is black and white, no color.

Up to date printing, though some pages had a slight faded look to them. Not a big deal but I would expect better printing quality. The FAA has the original PDF on its website and I bought this simply because printing this entire book myself would be excessively expensive and I wouldn't have it bound as a book.Be aware that if you're reading this in prep for CFI, Gleim has an FOI study book that includes a reprint of this exact same book. Having this book separately might be necessary for the CFI checkride.

I have purchased several of the FAA Handbooks from various sources, i.e. Amazon, local Flight School, etc., but this is the only one that I have seen that is Black and White, not color. The front and back cover are glossy color, but none of the photos or diagrams inside the book are in color, all are in black and white. Not too big of a deal, but maybe this should be mentioned in the description. I have downloaded the color versions of all of the FAA Handbooks from the FAA website for use on my iPad when I'm on the go, but I'd rather study from a hard copy when I'm at the house.

FOI explained in the best way possible. Rich of examples, very well made and super easy to understand... I absolute love this book as every single book made by ASA... these books helped me a lot with my career.. highly recommended

The reviews left me a bit reluctant. But, for the price, I decided to roll the dice. Got the hard six! HIGH quality book. Heavy stock pages with crisp color graphics and printing. The spine was glued and pressed. Arrived in good packaging on the promised day.

Only half way through it as have a pile of books to get through but already finding it invaluable. A must read

Just what I needed

Only finished first 2 chapters, but Learned so so so much about myself already. I am going through tough time in my instructor training and this book helps beyond my word can speak. Even the printing quality of some page is not that great, but the content is priceless!
