I almost never write a review but this little paint sprayer is excellent. Super simple to operate and gives a fantastic finish. I did three practice pieces (the backs of some Besta cabinet doors) before getting the hang of it and spraying near flawlessly. I couldn't understand the stick doodad that is meant to help you dilute by 10% at a time, so I just used a digital kitchen scale instead. Cleaning was straightforward, every part comes apart easily and can be washed. I love this paint sprayer, great value for the money. I'm sure there are fancier sprayers out there, but for my needs it's just the thing.

First, let me say that this was the first paint sprayer I have ever used after hearing bad reviews of paint sprayers in general from other people, I’m a perfectionist and I hate painting fences. I was using water-based sprayable fence paint diluted by 5-10% water (as per the instructions) onto brand-new unpainted fence panels. It is also worthy of note that I got through the paint at about twice the rate the manufacturer suggests you will on the side of the container, so make sure you buy enough. The spraygun itself is exactly as good as I could’ve expected it to be for £50. Easy to set up, easy to use and delivers a good finish, in general. Also very easy to clean. The only slightly negative side I have for the gun is that the pot which holds the paint is quite small, so you find yourself having to stop painting quite quickly to refill the pot again, but this is only a small downside. If you want a paint sprayer to do a few fence panels a year, this has worked well for me recently. A good paint sprayer. However... My question to you is whether you really need a paint sprayer depending on your needs and how much of a perfectionist you are. The gun is very good at painting flat fence panels which are not rough to touch. Because the spray comes out in quite a fine mist, it is not very good at giving an even and thick finish on the rougher areas as it is on the smooth areas of wood, and in the corners and the angles of the fence panels. The paint can also tend to run quite quickly if you cover an area with too much. You will therefore find yourself having to apply a second coat in order to get a deep and even finish. You will also need to use a brush to touch up the harder to reach corner areas of the panels. And depending on how much of a perfectionist you are you will also have to spend a reasonable amount of time masking up the areas that you don’t want to end up overspraying onto. And don’t even think about using this (or probably any spraygun) to paint the fence when there’s anything above about a 5 mph wind. In summary, if you are spraying a lot of flat fence panels where you don’t have a concern for overspray going onto your neighbours conservatory, kickboards which are of a different colour to the fence panel itself and you’re not a perfectionist about the detail of having to use a brush to get into the corners to get an even, thick-paint look then using a spray gun such as this will be right up your street because it is undoubtedly faster than doing it all by hand - and you won’t be disappointed with this model. But if you are a perfectionist and want a very even very high quality look to your fence panels, you will probably spend just as much time masking up areas you don’t want to spray by accident and touching up the areas that the gun can’t get to very well with a brush, so you might as well just do the whole thing by brush.

I was faced with the scary task of painting my kitchen cupboards which would involve undercoating front+back and then doing the front+back with wood paint. After reading various reviews, I was dubious on how effective this would be. After spraying 34 cupboard doors (Each door receiving 4 coats) I'm super impressed and couldn't have done it without - no brush strokes at all. It does take some getting used too and the first couple doors did need some TLC after my first attempt to perfect my technique. Some things I'd recommend for all first time users; 1) Dilute the paint properly (I was a bit concerned about this step prior to ownership); but you soon realise the correct amount. I was doing approx 50ml of water to my paint. If you don't dilute enough, the flow of paint is low and coverage is poor, too much and the paint is too 'wet' and runs off. Again, trial and error and you can resolve this quickly. 2) When you pull the trigger, for the first couple of seconds aim "away" from your target area as normally get paint bobbles after this spray as normal. 3) Reduce the paint flow appropriately. There is a little spinner near the trigger of the gun which controls how much paint gets pumped out. Out of the box, mine came on max and I zoomed through 500ml in 3 cupboard doors which lead to a state of panic. I reduced it too it's lowest setting and it was fine and 500ml then did around 15-18 doors. 4) Wear proper PPE, you'll definitely need a decent mask (respirator) & googles for this - as it's a fine mist that does go everywhere..

No comparison to the hideous £30 battery powered squirters found in DIY stores. However, limitations in the W100 mean this is better suited to small jobs (note that 6' fence panels should be regarded as a 'large' job), as there are key differences with the larger W200 and dedicated Fence and Decking sprayer. PROS 1. Handles gloopy '5-year' fence paint without thinning**. 2. Doesn't clog!! 3. Not too loud 4. Very controllable spray giving excellent results 5. Easy to clean when using water based paint CONS 1. 800ml container needs frequent refilling (Fence and Decking Sprayer is 1400ml) 2. Power lead far too short: doesn't reach to spray the top of a 6' fence panel (W200 has a long hose) 3. The spray fan is quite narrow, and possibly weaker with viscous paint, meaning having to spray from just a few inches away**. Overall, pretty much what I expected apart from the short power lead.

I have used this for spraying a garden fence with fence guard and it did a great job. Very easy to use and clean and gives a good even coverage. The only downside is the small capacity reservoir which needs filling often. I bought a spare one so that I could have a full one ready when the one I was using ran out but even so it is still a bit of a chore to keep refilling. Overall though a really good sprayer which feels well made and will hopefully stand the test of time.

I have used the spray gun twice, I don’t think I will go back to using a roller on furniture. it took a while to master the art of assembling the spray gun but after that it’s so simple. The gun it self is easy to clean, clear instructions even a demo on line if you get stuck. Me and my husband were fighting over who would use it first. Good value for the money, we used a water based paint to cover some garden chairs and the sprayer covered it with ease. Love my new toy.

The Wagner W100 says it is suitable for the following :- Suitable for wood and metal paints including; gloss, satin, undercoat, stain, varnish wood preservatives and many more Perfect for spraying fencing, decking, garden furniture, doors, skirting, windows and other wood or metal surfaces When I bought this gun the first job on my list was to spray the top of a small bedside cabinet to match an existing one but to my horror found it only produced a splattering orange peel finish. I diluted the paint and sprayed again. Slightly better but not much. I diluted the paint again until it was like a thin single cream and tried again slightly better but again not much . I tried every adjustment possible but in the end the only solution was to spray the surface flat rather than angled towards the gun and to cover it with so much paint that the splattered blobs flowed together and settled like water. This was the only way to get a flat result but the downside is that three days later the paint is still not dry as the amount of paint I had to build up to get it to settle and flatten was so much so that I don’t know how long it will take to dry . After three days the paint surface has formed a film over it but is still soft inside and touching it make finger prints. It will probably take weeks to harden thoroughly at this rate which is a real problem as the table is one of a pair in a guest’s room of my B&B and the clients are coming in tomorrow. All my other spraying projects which I bought this spraygun for will now have to be abandoned. It may be O.K. for spattering creosote on a fence (I would assume) but it certainly is no good for fine spraying things like furniture, doors, skirting or windows as it says on the tin. It would be helpful if the manufacturer posted a warning that this gun is not suitable for fine surface spraying. I hope this review will be helpful to others.

I've never used a spray gun before so it was a bit daunting initially. This gun has really clear instructions and so it was a breeze setting it up and using it. I would recommend it for hobby painting and bits and pieces around the home.
