Audioquest equals quality
Expensive for what they are, but I have bought into Audioquest’s marketing and quality. I use their RCA and HDMI cables as well, all perform excellent with no issues. You may not hear the difference from a cheap cable, but if aesthetics and build quality are important, buy Audioquest. Sound quality for me was improved over the cheap interconnects I was using, the Pearl is the lowest quality level by Audioquest and is much better than standard. The Forest line is an even better cable if you don’t mind spending more. The quality and durability of Audioquest is top notch in my book. Again, expensive, but one usually finds that quality does cost a little more. If you have expensive equipment, why would you connect everything with cheap cables. I follow the 10% rule of thumb...cables and interconnects should cost about 10% of the equipment you are connecting. Auidioquest hits that mark for me with fantastic quality...and selection. If you are a person running $2000 speakers with 16 guage wire from the hardware store, Audioquest is probably not the product line for you...or maybe it is and you didn’t know it.

GREAT SOUND!!!
Well I love the Audioquest line of cables. Use different ones for applications. For Ethernet I use Pearl between my router and modem, HDMI I use Cinnamon, external hard drives I use Forest USB 3.0. The pearl is just their line without silver. The Ethernet Pearl cable works great and I get very stable speed flow over the internet with it. I always look at coast to performance value. I needed a long run for optical and did not want to spend a lot but still get great quality so I went with the Pearl... I had several other optical cables that I tried and trust me this one outperformed each one of them. I use it from my Xbox One S to my Razer Leviathan soundbar for gaming and music...... Audioquest redid all their cables a year or so ago and the new optical cables are thin with large heads for great connection. Audioquest prides itself on innovative ways to construct all their cables for the best performance possible. For the money these cables blow away any other cable in its price range. The sound is clear, full, with great separation between highs, lows, and mids. Games come to life. Thanks Audioquest.

good value
I was using a generic optical digital cable from a Bluetooth receiver to my preamplifier with built-in DAC. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on Bluetooth but wanted to see if I could improve on the generic cable used. The Pearl was what I was looking for, Name brand and right price.I was very happy with the results, not night and day, but definitely worth the money improvement. I gained more detail and clearer sound, what I mean the sound was smoother or easier to listen to, things like cymbals had a more clear ring. I suspect if using this cable between a source better than Bluetooth the cable would show even better results. In my main system I use Audioquest's Diamond USB cable with outstanding results. I am familiar with Audio, digital transfer and cables. I can recommend the Pearl for a nice budget upgrade.

Thin cable well terminated...
It is a tad costly and that's the rub. I have an EE friend who told me I wasted my money. But a hi fi enthusiast told me I made a good purchase. In the end, its your own ears. My ears hear no difference in sound quality from this higher end cable for AV use. That said, I do like the company's Rocket brand 33 speaker cables for the solid copper ribbon. I found the sound did improve in my Parasound 2 channel setup with Definitive D11 speakers. That fact led me to purchase this product.

I wasn't able to connect it.
I was going to use this as a replacement for a current optical digital audio cable. Alas, it wouldn't even stay in the jack. It was also muuuuch thinner and just felt cheap and breakable. So, I put this in the pile of other disappointing cables. Hard to believe my Radio Shack (!) cable is superior. VERY disappointing.
