Quality kit at a great price! Don't get caught in a mess without it.
I have been trained in military survival schools and have been a survivalist since I can remember. I wanted a kit to carry on me that wouldn't take up much room, but contained all of the kit I would need to get out of a bind. This kit contents were thoroughly thought through and are jam packed in a relatively small container. Most survivalists have big kits that could keep them going for months, but how often are you carrying all of that gear on you? Dire situations tend to happen when you least expect them to, so this product is perfect for that.I fly airplanes as a flight instructor and now carry this kit in my flight bag, should I ever have the misfortune of going down in a crash. The quality contents give me the assurance that I will have what I need. The kit is the most complete kit I have ever seen and I have owned a lot of survival kits. This kit far exceeds the cheap sardine can survival kits and it even came with a quality compass, which alone costs nearly what this kit is going for.Do yourself a favor and get this kit. Don't be caught in a survival situation, wishing you had one. It would go well in a glove compartment, too.The upgraded waterproof case is also well worth the investment, if you want to keep your kit dry and easily accessible, so you can inventory your gear.My biggest surprise was not so much the kit, as the excellent customer service! Very professional, cordial, and prompt responses to some questions I had.

Best Kit for the money
I had done research on 3 different compact survival kits. Bear Grylls, ESEE, & this one. Based on cost and content, I chose this one as it has the most items, at a cost of $19.99, and upon receiving it was very pleased with my choice. Upon its arrival, I immediately conducted an inventory of the items, and found I was missing the spool of dental floss, but did have an extra salt packet and mini glow stick, so it all balances out. I have made a slight upgrade to it, removed the chewing gum (afraid it would melt in the heat) and put in a P-51 can opener along with a Fresnel lens; the can opener and the extra glow stick I taped to the lid, so I know where it is in the dark. I also have enough room to put in a Boker Magnum Little Arrowhead knife. I recommend a small ziplock bag if you can find one, that way all the small items can be secured and not be loose in the package. It comes in a larger ziplock bag to which I added a whirlpack 1 liter water bag, as I don't trust the condom as they tend to break based on the amount of fluid in them. It only comes with two water purification tablets, I recommend adding more of those, along with some NATO stormproof matches. The only negative would be the wire saw, it is not as shown in the picture, which is the higher quality one with swivels and metal rings. Mine has the wire folded around into a loop at each end and crimped with rubber tubes to cover the loops so you don't hurt yourself. So I may order a better one and replace it at some point, or a UST Razor Saw or something similar and just remove the scalpel and the wire saw entirely; also upgrade the light, not very bright and I'm not in a Escape & Evade environment so it wouldn't really help. I'd give the Mark 1 Survival Kit a 5 star rating based upon it's design, and content along with the cost, despite some of the minor issues I have with it.

Better than most survival tins
The gear inside is great for almost any emergency situation that might arise out in the great outdoors. I would recommend adding a few more items, a good fixed blade knife and learning vital survival skills so that if you find yourself in a survival situation then you'll have the necessary knowledge and gear to make it until help arrives. It's a good idea to practice with the included items in this kit so you're familiar with how to use them and it's also a good idea to let someone know exactly where you plan on going so in the event that an emergency situation should arise someone has a location to tell emergency responders.

A nice kit designed by people who know what they are doing.
These folks did an excellent job in putting this little kit together and the form factor is small enough to go just about anywhere. There is nothing useless or gimmicky in this. It is made up of quality items that you might actually need and use in a survival kit. There is a little bit of room left inside for you to customize with a few additional items that you might want. I was able to fit a micro multi-tool, thin lockback pocket knife and a #2 coffee filter in mine. The only other thing that I added that wouldn't fit inside is a small sterile compressed sponge for water collection. I just stuck that on the outside under the bands. The whole kit goes inside two ziplock bags to keep it dry. You don't want water getting inside this kit. That's the only ding on this, but it's a cheap and quick fix.My wish list from these folks would be:1. A pouch with Molle attachments.2. A matching first aid kit in the same form factor. That would be a very nice combination.

Everything I needed in one little tin can
Everything I expected was in the tin can, plus more. I'm surprised how they fit so many useful things in one tiny tiny can, very useful and well worth the money spent. This was most of the things I needed, all in one little handheld can that fits in your hand. Pretty cool.
