Best iron
Love, love, love this iron, which was on special offer. Does not scorch or burn clothes, without the need to change any setting dependant on clothes material. Good descaler which alerts you when needed. Glides well over clothes and does not stick. For what it is, it is not heavy and when locked you can hold and carry by the iron handle. Extra steam helps to remove creases, which I keep easily on constant to help faster ironing. Easy to store

Review of (PSG6066/26) 600g iron
Before purchasing this I owned the (GC7840/26) model which is still available for £99.99 and whilst it was very good and performed faultlessly for 4 years, it wasn't quite cutting it so I treated myself to an upgrade with this one. I chose this model as it seems to offer more bang for your buck than the more expensive but older variations. It also looks super cool in the navy and gold livery. Anyway it came the next day, very well packed complete with de-calc tray and instruction book though I didn't really need that as it is very easy to use. The water reservoir is easily removable for easy filling under the tap and slots nicely back in before powering up. One fill will last a long time, I certainly won't be refilling it mid-session. If you are concerned about the size and weight of the unit, don't be as it can go on the floor and you still have plenty of lead to work with without over-stretching it. No need to buy a special board. Once powered up, you just wait for a minute or two for the beeps and you are good to go. You use the trigger for the steam and with no temperature gauge you can switch between cottons and delicates with literally no wait as it's the steam pressure that does the trick and it does so VERY well making ironing less of a chore and so much faster compared to a conventional iron. Note you may experience a bit of whistling/screeching on the first few uses but that soon goes. You will need to de-calc every few weeks especially if you live in a hard water area but that is easy enough. Just make sure you have plenty of water in the tank and place it in the tray provided. Hold the decalc button and stand back whilst it does it's thing. I tend to do it outdoors as it generates a lot of steam and noise. This is definitely the best iron I've used and is an excellent deal at currently around £170. It's a good upgrade on the GC7840/26 and definitely money well spent.

Great iron
Delighted with this iron. It is as good if not better than the Bosch iron I had before. No messing with dials on the iron just a good jet of steam when you want it. It beeps when it’s ready to use which doesn’t take long. It uses tap water so no need for distilled. The only little thing I found on the first use, it’s not easy to get all the water out of the tank, no too much of a problem. It even has a Velcro strap to secure the cord rather than the silly plastic version that takes ages to fasten properly.

Excellent functionality, quality and value for money
Our last Philips steam generator iron lasted over 7yrs and I’ve no doubt this will be the same. Big steam pressure, easy gliding and does everything you’d want it to - so it’s an excellent choice for sure. Minor gripes would be: doesn’t stand on it’s own (but it auto shuts off so you can just put it on the ironing board while you’re moving clothes about); wire organisation is not as good as our old model (a bit fiddly); and emptying the water out when you’ve finished is quite poor as the water tank design makes it unnecessarily time consuming (you have to lift and shake simultaneously…but you get used to it). Overall it’s worth the money as it does everything you’d expect and will last many years.

Great iron!
Great iron and works well. Just don't like the amount of noise or makes when you press the steam button.

Not a good iron, very disappointed
We had a Philips steam generator for years and it was great so we decided to get another one and chose this one after reading the reviews and articles. I really wish we’d chosen any other iron, it’s awful. The iron takes an age to heat up to mediocre and we think the reason you can’t burn clothes is because it doesn’t get hot enough and even on max and using the steamer it doesn’t remove creases and the cotton feels barely warm straight after removing the iron - the ironer has a steam bath because so much steam escapes from underneath. The only good thing is that ours didn’t leak. It was very expensive and I would return it if I hadn’t used it three times to make sure we weren’t satisfied with it. Wish we’d saved our money and I’ll never buy another Philips iron because it’s that bad.

Best iron ever!
My son has one of these and I've been using it when there, for the last couple of years. The best iron I've ever used. It's so lightweight, sleek, easy to de-calc and effortless. I'm a fussy ironer and this ticks all the boxes, even clothes that are normally too dry to iron without damping them first, are left with no creases. My iron at home has just stopped steaming. Had had buy a product to de-scale before which was messy. Enough is enough so I ordered this at a massively reduced price plus an extra £30 off for Black Friday; what a bargain! Cant wait to tackle my laundry now

Good, but overpriced for its limitations
The steam output on this iron is genuinely impressive; it powers through wrinkles on most cottons and linens with ease. The OptimalTEMP technology is great for peace of mind, eliminating fears of burning delicate fabrics. However, this same technology is its biggest drawback for a serious ironer. It simply doesn't get hot enough to effectively press crisp creases into heavier fabrics like denim or thick canvas. For the very high price point, I expected more versatile performance. While it's a good, safe iron, you are majorly paying for the Philips brand name and proprietary tech. If you primarily deal with delicate and medium-weight fabrics, it's a solid choice. But if you need serious heat for all fabric types, you may want to look elsewhere for a better value.
