One of those tool that you could make yourself but why bother when the premade one is $4.Does exactly what it is supposed to sits in your tool box till that one time you need it years later.

For years plumbers used iron pipe with a cap for shower drop ells. But about 5 years ago I switched to these plastic test plugs after a job came to a standstill and sat for over a year. The old tried and true iron pipes began to rust and one seized up due to galvanic corrosion. Since then it's been nothing but these SharkBite test plugs because you don't need to use PTFE tape and paste with them like metal and there's never a problem with rust of corrosion. The washers will wear after a while but are easily replaced and for that I use O-rings because they hold up better. Plus if you apply a little bit of liquid soap to the washer and/or O-ring before tightening it seals better.

I bought a bunch of these when I was Plumbing a house a little while ago I finally got around to putting air to test my system today. Everything was great at 60 PSI but when I put the air to 80 psi which is where my building inspector likes to see the air pressure all the O-rings started blowing out. Running around encephalon taping them all now instead of relying on the other one. Next to that they're great

I use these mainly on shower head insulations. That way I can check for leaks before the Sheetrock and/or shower walls are installed. I used two of them this time for a new Shower Panel Tower. You don’t need any tools to install them or take them out. A real timesaver.

Time saver for ez tile installation

Overall happy, it's doing it's job testing the new plumbing in my shower. Took off a star because the gasket isn't great. Had to really ream the thing down to get it to stop leaking. Strongly suspect the gasket will turn out to be single use and 4 destroyed after I remove the plug from my shower.

They do what you need them to.

Easy to use & smallest option to use to stop water flow.

Inexpensive, best with teflon tape, handy to have in the tool box if you're doing any shower renovations.

Doesn't come with instructions so I learned the hard way. Make sure you use teflon tape otherwise it won't hold the pressure for long. Without the tape, you will twist it on so tight that it stretches and distorts the rubber gasket and water will leak. 1 star to start, 5 stars at the end
